It's Pliny, not Pliney.

Well, as far as I know, the word should be pronounced plin-ee (like tin), but the beer should be pronounced pline-ee (like tiny), so perhaps we should cut the folks some slack.

 

This is spelling so no slack

 

So all the "Pliney" that I've been seeing on the shelves around town was just a cheap knockoff, imagine that. Next you'll be telling me there's something fishy about the Rolecks watch that I picked up downtown.

 

And the "P" is silent, no?

 

It's finally being distributed by me. As long as I can get it with less then 2 weeks on it, I don't care if people add extra letters, an umlaut, and an underscore. I'm just happy to see it.

It's whiskey not whisky...oh wait

 

That's what I thought until I got it fresh. It falls off hard.

 

Only place I ever had it was at the brewery taproom. That should have been fresh

We have now entered the time of month old Pliny sitting in coolers. Strange times, indeed.

 

At least there’s some rules of thumb there....if the producing country has an “e” in its name, then it spells whisky with an “e”

America = whiskey
Ireland = whiskey
Canada = whisky
Scotland = whisky
Japan = whisky

pretty handy, huh?

Of course there are a few notable exceptions, like my beloved Maker’s Mark, which spells it whisky.

 

I’m living for that day when it comes to pass here in SWFL!

Dave I do not drink cheap whiskey or white wine ! I will say that my taste buds are failing somewhat but that was my experience before that started. I guess we all have our niches of what appeals and what does not.

 

Where does that leave India, Taiwan, Wales?

 

Jeez, I would love to have that “problem.”

 

It’s been happening forever and it’s not going to change. Crack open a Pliney and relax.
