Tasty! I had a pint of that last weekend in one of York's finer drinking establishments.....

I'm currently supping a Cusquena. But I'll move on to something better shortly.

Mission Hophead failed initially then came to life!

Cask came on Tuesday, went Thursday - cheers

Had a pint of Dark Star - Chestnut and whilst supping, the landlord wandered thro - "not on the Hophead - unusual for you?"

Not on ! Been on for an hour just not turned the clip over - needs an experienced taster !

Ok - that be me, one 3/4 gratis pint later and I approved - clip turned

3 pints later I wondered home - Hoppy days!

Now home on a bottle of Mad River (CA) - Steelhead DIPA. Ok - drinkable but not my idea of a west coast IPA - a little too sweet!

Not one of Dave's best im afraid imho, long bitter finish, bit of woody roastiness, fair but its no bottle of 1080 cider, bottle of No 1 Barleywine and a vodka in a pint glass with a straw.

Moving on, I've just opened a bottle of Einstok White Ale - basically an Icelandic take on a Belgian Wit. Rather tasty! It contains coriander and orange peel, but the flavours are quite subtle and blend nicely with the yeast.

    Desperate times, desperate measures....

Yeah, I thinks that's where I got it, but my local beer specialist also has this one and the porter.

How is it? There's something about Hardknott beers, an unrefined quality that often makes me think they're just someone's homebrews.

Edit: Sorry, I see you gave your opinion further down the thread.

I kind of know where you're coming from with the home brew thing! I've never had a dud beer, always found them decent but have never returned to one I've tried before other than Light Cascade which I've enjoyed a number of times.

There have been a couple of brews i havent been overly keen on but ive put it down to starting Hardknott beers at the monster beer end of the range and obv the lower abv stuff hasnt measured up to them. What is odd is i never come across Hardknott beers on cask which is where i have encountered homebrew character in beers.

Right, and I feel the same way about Infra Red, but I never expect great things from them even though a number of their beers sound wonderful in theory (Queboid; Code Black; Vitesse).

I've only ever had them on cask!

I liked it too, and the Pale Ale was quite nice. Will be sampling the roasted porter as well tonight.
