Has J. Wakefield released any of their Top 250 beers recently? Social media hasn’t helped me, but isn’t my forte either.

@Chilmer i know Miami madness was released September of 23’ so maybe they’ll release again this September. Not sure on DFPF but I think it’s also yearly.

They also had a cellar sale on Black Friday with some of the stouts sold, but not sure which ones exactly.

I’ve recently traded for I let my tape rock and it was all a dream. Tape rock has a 2018 date on it but it’s not the most recent batch. No date on the it was all a dream but looks like a newer label.

According to untappd there is a listing for a 2023 I let my tape rock and 2023 It was all a dream. So thinking maybe yearly for them as well

Instagram page for the brewery and untappd are best online resources for beer releases. Hope some of this helps, cheers!

The big poppa variants are generally associated with WakeFest that didn't occur this year and have not been out since last year. The sours are usually done once a year and most recently were released late last year. Seems as though Wakefield has had some issues with their distributor that has affected their business as a whole. Things such as release schedules/volume of releases have definitely been different as of late and I hope that doesn't mean more downturns to come for their business.

Too lazy to upload the picture but here's the quoted text from Wakefield's very own IG story.

Bummed to see this. Had heard rumblings that at least a move was imminent. Miami craft beer scene has been hit hard with closings of union beer store, Boxelder wynwood, wynwood brewing and now maybe Wakefield.

I'll freely say I posted that with no knowledge what it actually meant.

It could very well be they are leaving the space they currently occupy like @Pereza987 mentioned

Can only imagine what rent is for those locations in Wynwood and Little Havana.

If that even. I actually somewhat enjoyed the dogfish location there, but the service was awful.

There's a lot of foot traffic in that area. I wonder why Wake is having a hard time surviving. I know the hype is gone for packaged releases, but otherwise, plenty of people out and about.

Update to this: John Wakefield was a guest on the Steal this Beer Podcast and gave some info. The Wynwood location is shutting down. Production will shut down in the next 30 days, and apparently will continue to be contract brewed at an undisclosed location with an expectation that there will be no drop in supply (presumably for the distribution footprint they have). The taproom will officially close in late September with some type of Wynwood send off/last hoorah party scheduled tentatively for the weekend of September 13-15 with guest breweries that are friends of Wakefield. He stated he fully expects to open another production/taproom space somewhere in Miami in the future, but none of that seems to be in the works at this time. Definitely the end of an era for this brewery and now a move that will undoubtedly cause it to remain on unstable footing into its next chapter.

A shame. My usual rounds in Wynwood always included Wynwood Brewing's taproom (shuttered), Dogfish Head's outlet (shuttered), and now the soon to be shuttered J Wakefield.

Guess I'll focus more now on Fort Lauderdale and some of their nice breweries like 3 Sons, Uncommon Path, Orchestrated Minds, Invasive Species, etc.

Crazy to think they are shutting down the brewery before finding a new spot.

Well, they just announced Aug. 3 the release of DFPF and Miami Madness in 4 pack cans. Now I’ll be curious the cost and if they will be difficult to land.

    BREAKING NEWS

It is with a heavy heart that we share some bittersweet news with all of you. After almost a decade of serving this beloved community of Wynwood, and everyone that traveled from afar to visit our taproom, we will be closing its doors. This decision has not come easily, but the ever-changing landscape of the neighborhood has presented challenges that we can no longer navigate effectively.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude for all your unwavering support and loyalty over the years. Your presence and enthusiasm have been the heartbeat of our taproom and each Wakefest that we’ve hosted. We have cherished every pint, and every story told within these walls. It has been a privilege to be part of such a vibrant community.

While we will be saying goodbye to our current location, we want you to know that our passion for brewing remains as strong as ever. We will continue to craft the same quality beers you have come to love and will stay actively engaged in the community through events, tap takeovers, and collaborations around the city.

To all the current and past employees- Your time and dedication to JWB have been invaluable, and your contributions have played a significant role in shaping our success, creating the vibrant atmosphere that have become the entire vibe of our establishment and brand. Whether you were with JWB for a season or for several years, your presence and hard work have left a lasting impact on our team and the community we’ve built together. THANK YOU for all you’ve ever done for JWB.

We’re excited to share that we are already working on finding a new location what will allow us to serve you even better. We’ll be keeping you updated on our progress and can’t wait to welcome you our new home when the time comes.

Thank you once again for being such a crucial part of our journey. We will miss you dearly, but we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, and of course, at our new location in the near future.

Our last weekend open will be October 26-27

Until then, we do have some special events lined up to make our farewell a memorable one. – STAY TUNED

I'm thankful 3 Sons is going strong and IMO their beer is better than it's ever been. Still, end of an era for craft here with the closings you mentioned along with Odd Breed shutting down.
