Ouch, $300.... If only any of the $30-50 options included beer instead of breweriana...

Not sure how I feel about this. His beer is great for sure, but...I mean The Funky Buddha didn't need a crowdsourced start.
And 300 dollars for the reserve society, for a brewery that doesn't exist yet, when you can get into El Catador for 125....seems a bit much.
I'd go up to 150 for the reserve membership, it's 25 a bottle that way.

Now that donation night where you pay 5 bucks for a glass of his beer, yes, I would do that all day.

No private lap dances from wakefield himself? Terribly disappointed...

In all seriousness I'm sad I don't have the coin for this but hope others do so JWB can get rolling.

If $300 covered 2 years, I'd be down.

It's just money. The warm fuzzy feeling for helping them get started is worth way more than that !

I am thinking they messed up on the goal amount. $2500 does not seem like much money for pimping out a tasting room.

If I lived nearby to make use of all the extras and I knew that it would be 6 of his berliners, I would do the $300.

I think they did $2,500 so it definitely gets funded. If you set a high goal and don't meet it, all the money goes back to the donors. Also, Wakefield apparently needs about $50,000 for his tasting room, bottling line, etc.

It just got changed to $55,000. So it sounds like $50,000 was about right :grinning:

I think this is ridiculous! Yes, his beer could be great, I've never had it cause all the events I have been to that they have had it on tap, he had his "crew" there hoarding all the pours before the public got any. Such as 2 lines at Huna Day, one for general public and one for his group of friends...which pretty much killed the keg.

I would never pay $300 for a beer club that doesn't have a brewery...what happens when it doesn't open for 2 years? You're out your money till then? This is the biggest load of B.S.! Im so glad for CCB and the El Catador club being affordable and so much better then this!

There is a HUGE difference between crowdsourcing funds to start a brewery and launching a reserve society from an already existing brewery...
    Think of it this way:
    6x 750s @ 25 ea = 150
    1x one off @ 25 = 175
    1x party @40 = 215
    1x Special Shirt @30 = 245
    1x Glass @ 10 = $255

I'd pay $45 extra to help support a new brewery. I don't know about you guys

Yeah when you put it that way it doesn't seem too bad, and I have a birthday coming up

Lets go ahead and fix this....

    6x 750s @ 15 ea = 90
    1x one off @ 25 = 115 (Ill give you that)
    1x party @40 = 155 (That too)
    1x Special Shirt @15 = 170 ($30 is way to much for a shirt)
    1x Glass @ 5 = 175 (Snifters from local FL breweries go for $5-6)

That looks more realistic...now does it seem worth it? Don't get me wrong, I hope it is successful and works out great. But just cant back something that has been "in the works" for so long!

I can see your reason to hesitate but I would be happy to scan and copy my deposit on the equipment and my signed lease just saying. This is still in the works and I am scheduled to take receipt of the equipment 2nd week of January. So this is not a dream anymore this is reality. To talk on the membership I shot for 6 bottles out of the box to undershoot it and hopefully over deliver. Im thinking more along the lines of 8 or more bottles the first year and anybody that signs up will get a discounted renewal the second year.

My only question is will it be a similar pick up system as Catador Club, i.e. will I be able to pick them all up at the end of the first membership period? Helluva long drive multiple times otherwise.

I could only do $20 as a teacher. Glad to help even if it isn't much. I haven't even tried their beers. I just want them to be successful and eventually send some beer to Fort Myers!
