yes, but when a brewery talks about getting cooperage they are talking about kegs

This is typically what's being referred to (from my experience) when individuals use the word regarding craft beer.

Wynwood is becoming a pretty good spot for craft beer in Miami. Wynwood Brewing is launching their beer soon (Sept 23) and should have a tap room open in the near future as well. Throw in a J.Wakefield tap room in the neighborhood eventually and I will drive down there from Lauderdale for that.

Yeah I'm up in Pompano so...I'll be at the Funky Buddha most days.
As long as I get bottles though, that's enough for me! And it's another destination for my FL beer roadtrips.

Is 40 minutes really a long way to travel for beer as a "destination"?? I got to Ft. Collins and Colorado Springs like every other week for great beer. Anything under 2 hours is in the range of local...

You're right, 40 minutes probably isn't far enough to call it a "destination". You are lucky being in Colorado. For us in South FL the closest "beer destination" would be the Tampa Bay area (Cigar City, Pegs/Cycle, 7th Sun, etc) but that's about 4 hours away. If I go there, I'm spending the weekend. At least we have Funky Buddha and with other tap rooms/breweries popping up (J.Wakefield, Wynwood, and others) things are getting better.

    Yes it is.
Have you ever driven on 95 in downtown Miami? We don't have vast mountain ranges in FL, we have vast lines of old people driving next to young people who all like to rubberneck.
    Forget about merging properly too...
But like I said, it's worth it for the bottles. I doubt I'll be there much to hang out when the Funky Buddha is right down the road.

Driven 95/75/41 MANY times (Family in Naples) - Just meant that if something like JWB was 40 mins away from me I would have zero issues traveling there once a week or more.

Side note: FL has some bad drivers but nothing compares to the Phoenix area... Young people doing 90, old people doing 45, 8 lanes, all on the same freeway. It's insane!

Just wondering- with what seems to be a large number of out-of-state backers, if there is a 'Members Only Party' for "OG's" how many people would actually be able to attend the party? On the other hand, if these parties revolve around the same weekend of other major events (i.e., Hunahpu's Day), that would be awesome...

Im in Jupiter so any party they have I would be able to attend.

I disagree with the notion that it would be a good thing if the party was the same weekend as Hunahpu's Day. I spend the entire Hunahpu's weekend in Tampa, where there is already a ton of parties. Last year there was a massive bottle share at Peg's the day before Hunahpu and 7venth Sun did Hunahpu's Hangover Day. Having to drive from Jupiter to Tampa, then Tampa to Miami, then back home after would be a lot of driving.

I agree with your comment with regard to the amount of driving required being a burden. I wasn't suggesting the event necessarily take place in Miami - I was thinking more along the lines of an event taking place somewhere in the Tampa area to coincide with Tampa Beer Week, but then that forces those in the area of the brewery to make the trip, which seems unfair.

Yeah, having it in Tampa when the place is advertised as being in Miami would be a bad idea.
They already have Huna day up there, no reason to piss off the S Florida locals by making them travel yet again.
I wouldn't have backed the project if it was in Tampa.

Any party should be during spring training since Jupiter isn't too far away.

Sounds like more reason to offer beer/swag as additional incentives for members instead of parties.

If some of the OG events aren't during peak vacation time in Florida (Spring Break, Christmas), I won't hesitate to fly down, stay with the grandparents, and take a mini vacation that coincides with an event.
