OG members have had a lot of patience. While I am not an OG member, this will be interesting to see how the J Wakefield team navigates through this if the leakage issue persists. I hope for a positive outcome in everything, so don't read into my post that I am craving a disaster.

I think it's hilarious This joker can't get right. He doesn't know how to cap a bottle so he thought the wax would fix it? Hahahaha. And yes I'm an OG member. He needs to take all the bottles back and get his shit straight. We've waited this long what is another month or two or in his case 12? At this point it's a train wreck that has provided me with so much laughter. Just when I think it can't get any worse....

At this point can we just call it a learning process for all parties involved and move on? I know I've been guilty of heavy scrutiny in the past on this guy and his process, but at this point, can't we all just cheer for this brewery to get everything right and just kill it from here on out? The beers are very, very good...and south Florida has nothing like them. Just playing devil's advocate i guess..

At this point he needs to recall all the dfpf bottles. They have issues and everyone knows it, waxing the tops is putting lipstick on a pig. For him to try to sale these mistakes like it's all good to people that gave him $300 two yrs ago is pretty crappy. A lot of us live out of state so we are paying to have these shipped. Once we get it and it's leaking I am then paying to ship it back and then maybe paying shipping again for a good bottle. In this case my $22 Berliner is now at about $58. He hasn't sent out an email or anything acknowledging the bottles have issues and laying out his plan. He has brought all this on himself with poor communication and not doing what he said he would( ie shipping our glasses, og growlers). There is plenty of time to make this right but who knows what he'll do.

Learning process and just move on? It's clear you're bias but that's ok if you know him personally and/or actually get the ability to go to his tasting room since you're local. But everyone doesn't get that privilege and the fact that he refuses to acknowledge that DFPF has had issues and tries to wax the bottle as if we wouldn't get suspicious and ask questions (that he still refuses to answer) is disheartening.

If a brewery posts multiple FB/IG updates every week but can't send an email acknowledging a pretty important issue it comes off as we are being ignored and he must hope and think we are naive. I've seen more updates about his boot camp and ladies night then OG emails.

If the beer is good then great but as for his business practices I don't agree with, it feels like all the donors whether it's just the $20 donors up to the OG's get no respect and he only cares about who walks in the door and buys a pint. I hope things will change but as for now I will expect the worse and hope for some good at some point.

Bias aside....if he is exchanging bottles that have leaked with new ones, isn't that acknowledging the problem? Im not disagreeing with about 90% of the things that have been said here, but if you have 300 members and only about 20 or so have reported issues...is there really a reason to raise concern to the 250+ people that had no issue? Im not taking a side here, simply asking a question....if you got your bottles and they had no issue at all, would you want to know and/or even care that a few people did have an issue? IMO this should be handled on a case by case basis....

Yes and no. Acknowledging a problem is knowing there's an issue and letting people know if you have a faulty bottle please return it to us if you have a problem. He hasn't said one word publicly about this, it was only acknowledged after people posted online and went back to the brewery to return it. Yes he's resolving the issue but he won't own up to it publicly which is a huge character flaw IMO.

So you're saying twenty people so far have reported issues but let's really look at the numbers. How many OG members truly have bottles in hand, maybe 100-150 at the most and even then I'm being generous with that number because a lot of OGs are out of town/staters. So now your number is 20 out of 100-150ish. Sorry but those odds aren't good enough to be handled on a "case by case" basis hence all the negative feedback he's receiving and deserved.

Lastly you're incredibly bias (this thread has proved it) and "bias aside" you will continue to play devils advocate which I'm fine with but I'm going to stop replying here because I feel my point and thoughts have already been shared. just try to put yourself in other people's shoes and pretend you don't know Wakefield personally and I think you'll better understand where a lot of us are coming from. Cheers.

Not try to fuel any debate, just wanted to add some data to the pool. I shipped two out and the recipient reported that neither bottle leaked. I took extra precaution with garbage bags, but it proved unnecessary. I taped the hell out of them (still not convinced this does anything) and shipped them upright (to the best of my knowledge, of course). Neither bottle had a re-crimped cap nor had they been waxed.

Does wax stop leaking? I see lots of pictures online about leaking waxy bottles of this. I also want to know how tightening caps works before I try and trade for one.
I think new brewery needs time to be great. Willing to wait for good beer.

You would have thought with the extra $55k he raised above his Crowdfunding goal he could have purchased a quality capper. The beer is great, but this guy customer service and care for his customers is becomeing the joke of the Florida brewery scene.

A lot of legitimate points being made on here on all sides. Ultimately, neither the paying customers nor JWB seem to catch a break. Hoping that the narrative changes sooner than later

yeah, i'd love to. if it wasn't absurdly late to file a chargeback, i would. JWB's actions are tantamount to fraud. if JWB offered refunds, i'd take one. it should come with fucking interest at this point.

    i can't "move on" with $300 missing.
