J Wakefield Releases

Hey guys, just a quick question. I am going to be in Miami on December 7th (it's a Thursday).

Do bottles ever make it to retail, or do they have on-site sales of bottles only, or are bottles only really sold during releases? Trying to understand the distribution.

I was trying to find a hotel close enough to J. Wakefield so I could walk back after visiting there, but it looks like everything is pretty far away from the brewery.

ETA: also, it seems like J. Wakefield no longer updates their website for events, so where do you find out what's going on? Facebook, Instagram?

 

JWB Bottles are only sold at the brewery. Sometimes (not the highly sought after ones) they don't sell out and have cans or bottles available for a few days after release day at the brewery. Depends on the beer.

I don't know of any hotels walking distance to JWB but I'm sure you could stay like 10 min away and take an Uber.

Seems like they post daily on Instagram also you can see their tap menu updated daily on the Untappd app by searching for them as a venue. Cheers!

A few of his canned IPAs are collabs with beer shops so those may be available at those shops only (Union Beer Store and Hawthorne in St. Pete come to mind). Some bottles have made it past the initial release day and they'll usually post it on Facebook. I believe untappd also is kept current as to draft list and "to go" options

Once you go to Wynwood and explore the area a bit you may have a better understanding of why there are no hotels. Uber is easy to use in Miami and staying in the Brickell area of Miami is only about 5 minutes by car

Jon Wakefield also has a personal instagram page which tends to be the most accurate/up to date but it is a private page and you have to request him to accept you to see the posts.

 

On a Sunday morning at 8am maybe. At any other time it will be like 20 mins #ihatemiamitraffic

 

Seems like they made of ton of cuvee and madness. Reports have kegs being tapped in Central Florida of cuvee. Getting there around 6-7am and thinking should be no issues on the sours

 

yeah they did tap them in CFL. Saw pictures on social media

 

Heading down for my first J wakefield release and have little clue as to what time I should be getting there for full allotment of all 4 beers ... any ideas ? I know it's a big release but not sure if it'll be as crazy as I heard Big Poppa was...I'm thinking I should be there by 6am at the latest? Planning on doing J wake then sliding up to Jupiter for Civil cans .. hope with a little luck everything goes smoothly. Cheers!

 

Anyone's guess as to the stouts when they don't release total bottle amounts

 

Looks like credit cards will be accepted on Saturday (def in the tap room, unsure about bottles). I usually like paying cash, but this storm has me in a cash crunch lol
