Side note -- loving the way Jackie Os is doing releases now. Quarterly-ish weekend releases with tons of taps (December anniversary releasees being my personal favorite), random weekday releases of large qty 375s, random small batch releases... I feel like the variety gives lots of people chances to grab bottles.

Only way they can improve things is to start sending random porch bombs with special bottles from their cellar to customer's who've spent $1,000+ on beer from them in the last year... I'd imagine that would be a lot of boxes.

 

Any word on when champion ground might appear? Or BB black maple?

There's no schedule when they release their barrel aged beers. It all depends on when they think they're ready, which is usually after about 11-15 months in barrels. Having said that, I'm pretty certain Brad said they brewed Champion Ground or put it in barrels a week after the August release last year.

 

Any chance the recipe for Mystic Mama was altered since its first release? Super high quality now where as I merely liked it before. And i noticed that the price point has changed (10.99 instead of 9.99). I just returned from living out of state for 3 years and I had not tried it in years but bought a 6er dated 8/4 and I am in love.

 

From what I remember seeing here, I think it has to do with slight rotation of hops used based on availability. I could be mis-remembering, but I've always loved MM even though some batches I like more than others. It definitely has been tasting even better lately.

 

Price changed when they went with a wholesaler a few years back. As for the recipe, that can be answered by the experts.

 

I asked back in December and they replied:

It has changed slightly over time. Caramel malts have been reduced, the beer has become a bit drier, but mainly the hops have changed due to supply issues. Compared to almost 14 months ago, the beer is both lighter in body and color.

 

Just cracked open a champion ground always nice to enjoy the classics just as good as when it was released hardly no carbonation but other than that it's perfect can't wait for this year's release!!!

Finally got a infected Jackie o beer cracked open my last bourbon barrel black maple and it's clearly infected but even infected it's still pretty good!

 

I've seen a lot of people open them up recently and no one reporting any issues, haven't ever heard of BBBM having any issues. What year was it? Last one I had was two months or so ago and was fine.

 

For the record, I opened my last BBDA Coffee & Vanilla and it was great, no sign of infection at all.

 

Last year's release, it was bound to happen eventually first out of tons of bottles I've had, had one back in July that was awesome

 

I had a similar experience with the last BBBM i opened a few days ago.

 

They sold some bbbm during the past release. Be surprised if those have any issues.
