Jackie O's (2018)

Not to bash Jackie O's but this isn't the first time the hype train made a stop in Athens.

 

Anniversary parties have been absolutely wild for years now, primarily for the limited sour bottle releases. The most sought after never survived to the next day.

The amount that turned over in one day may be unprecedented here, but Jackie O's is definitely no stranger to the hype train. Hell even BB Oro and Black Maple Vanilla were pretty intense.

 

Every release used to be bonkers back in the days when they were all in bombers.

 

I missed out by around 15 people. Sour grapes, yada yada. I'll be back next year and be sure to make it there early.

Brad- Pockets of Sunlight is delicious! I can't wait to taste OTBPs.

 

Curious to when you arrived?

 

Is there a guarantee they'll ever make this again? Seemed like a one-off to me but didn't hear yay or nay as to future plans. I'd dip into those IOUs you might have stocked up with any friends that attended just in case

 

You clearly were not around when waiting in line overnight for a calendar page in Athens was a thing, then.

 

This kinda throws a monkeywrench in my plans for tomorrow. No motivation for my wife to go to Columbus now to see that band I wanted to see. I guess I save money, but I don't get to see Windhand. But I can stay home and watch game 7, Pens and Sens. But I don't get to see some rock. etc, etc,...

 

Wow I should have made the drive 6000 bottles that quick wow

 

Well it sucks that you were missing this and there are people on FB selling it for upwards of $100 already.

I give permission to anyone if I'm ever caught going to releases only to resale at a 600% markup (or any markup really) to kick me in the nuts.

 

Big shutout to the bartender who poured me a small sample of derivation. That seriously made my whole trip. I will say, despite derivation and appervation being available today...the best beer I had was dynamo fuzz.

 

Glad I'm not on FB and hope I never partake on either side of a razzle....

 

I've only ever heard the term razzle in Ohio...what is the origin? The internet gives no fucks when I ask it.

 

Lots of beer raffle pages on facebook when 15 or 26 spots will be solid and a winner will be choosen based on what number hits in the power or megaball. at some point the term razzle took over.

 

Never heard of it, glad not to have, fuckin social media...

 

I arrived around 1:20-1:30pm. I still got some solid bottles, so I'm not too salty. It's only beer.

 

Yea. Some of the groups that are cost + shipping are fun because you can gamble a small amount of a spot for a chance at a great bottle but the other end of the spectrum also exists where people charge 50+$ for a chance too.

 

You should still go, they will have a lot of amazing beer on draft and bottle. I'm not sure but Appervation might still be on draft.

 

I love Jackie O's hype, but man I'm not taking a vacation day to pertake.
