Jackie O's (2018)

When his handle has the word "owned" in it, you know he's out to win big time. However, that list is just laughable, and 1:1 if the bottle is right? None of that is right.

I've done an IP with him. He's a very nice guy...but his offers often have me scratching my head.

I believe they are right around 400, which all things considered, isn't that bad. They way some people were talking, you would've thought there were 50 cases left. I think most people waiting for the weekend will be okay.

 

I gotcha, but I'm not even addressing your trade habits. I've just noticed that for sometime, you've been incredulous about JO's trade value and you really have to just accept it for what it is -- world class beer that we all(for the most part) have pretty easy access to. Personally and selfishly, I don't WANT them to become a Toppling Goliath where people are doing lotteries to get beer or sleeping outside for days to grab one.

 

We have some aging at the brewpub.

 

I've seen other FT posts from that guy that are bananas. This one might be the craziest of all. He must complete trades though, so good for him.

 

I don't think he gets anything like this done. The trade we did wasn't anything like this.

I agree and will go farther and say I hope no Ohio brewery reaches that level of pretentiousness. We have it so good and so easy, we would be insane to want that stuff here.

I don't think it will. Maybe it's because there are so many good options out of Ohio that there isn't one particular brewery or beer that makes people go bananas. If anything, Black Maple might be it and I don't see it getting anywhere near the level of a TG stout. I'm just glad we get to buy SIX of them.

I think the brewery has a lot to do with people going crazy for their beer. Having your most popular beer have a six bottle limit is pretty unheard of for a lot of other breweries. I hope, and do not doubt, that Jackie O's will continue doing what they're doing.

 

There is definitely a blueprint breweries use to encourage the hoarding/collecting/fanboy behavior and you are right, Jackie O's has a very divergent philosophy.

 

The amount that they brew paired along with the limits are what makes Jackie O's beers so nice. Not only do the beers taste phenomenal, but the people who purchase them actually treat it like beer that they can share and enjoy with friends and not some holy grail that's cherished more than one's own children.

 

Eh even the more than fair offers aren't getting done. No one wants to trade this beer, and honestly, who can blame them? Had my first one last night, a '14, and it was stellar.

 

As a GA transplant and Creature Comforts homer I put up an offer with very little hope (mainly trying to catch the eyes of an OH transplant in GA) trying to land StS for a box of 6 JO's. Please don't crucify me . I still drink about 95% of the Jackie O's that I buy and always trade them $4$ for long time wants.

Making the 3 hours drive again to drink more Oro and get some more Maple for the winter!


BTW; If any of you will be at the taproom later tonight and never had Tropicalia before let me know. I have two cans left (canned 9/8)from my last monthly shipment to give away. Nothing in return, just spreading the love and harvesting karma.

 

This man is what craft beer is all about! Free beer to just try and get awesome stuff into as many hands as possible. If only the wife and I hadn't made our trip already last night. Cheers to you for being awesome!

 

I dont think you should have to appologize for offering jackie os beers for trade. When you get into a hobby like there where you are driving half a day for amazing beer you probably like other good beer that you dont have access to. Trading fairly (however that is interpreted) your high quality hard to get beer for other high quality hard to get beer is part of the hobby. You get internet tough guys hiding behind screen names like @JFMBearcat yelling at people. Funny JFM you act out against my post on trading saying so one cares about trading but you have several trades completed on your profile. Also what is this all about?? @JFMBearcat_Is_Scammer

Good luck everyone on getting some bbbm. Ill most likely be running another LIF for those that miss out like I did for the Oro. Let the crickets tell me im off when i post bbbm+ for vanilla rye.

 

I'm really hoping bottles last through the week. I am trying to head out there next weekend with a buddy since neither of us can go this weekend.

 

From lurking this thread, beace is very quick and up to date in regards to informing everyone about how many bottles / cases are left. I need to make it down here as well, and from reading this thread it looks like sooner rather than later.
