Oro is not put into barrels. Bourbon Barrel Oil is treated post-barrel aging.

It would be spiced after being pulled out of the barrels, I assume.

Edit, sorry McFly beat me to it.

Last year's BB Oro was one of my favorite beers of all time. I loved the heat it had. Hoping this year's is similar.

Can't wait to get down to JO's this weekend.

@beace - was scotch barrel dark app a one off? I just had it this last weekend and was blown away. I'd love to get my hands on more... if it comes back around

One off as of now. Nothing aging in Scotch barrels at the moment. Will probably do it again, not sure when. Glad you liked it!

Any word on '17 CVDA (non barrel)? I know the release calendar is not bible, but it was listed as a June release, but it had a grayed out X.

Hope to fit this in around the end of the year. Just didn't have the production pockets to fit this in for the projected June release.

For all of you bottle release veterans...

Do you need to already be in your place in line when bottle sales start at 11 am on Sat?

I've never been to one of these releases before, and I won't get in until late Fri night or early Sat, so I'm assuming my calendar page will put me pretty far back in the line.

When the sale starts, January 1st goes first and everyone casually follows suit. While hanging out just occasionally ask people in line what their date is. No rush to get in line. If you have a later date, you don't need to be there at 11. Come a bit later. The line moves at a pretty relaxed pace.

What @ddedhed said pretty much. There isn't a big line like you might be thinking. Just a rolling 15-20 people 'on deck' kind of thing.

Good info - thanks guys. Sounds like it's all pretty chill, and like I might have time to hit the taproom before going to the brewpub.

I'm normally middle of the pack at releases, like April/May, because I don't like waiting in line when there are incredible drafts to drink. I tend to show up on Saturday around 1 and only have to wait for 20-30 minutes.

Flying into Cleveland tomorrow for a wedding and I'm not renting a car. Would any BB Oro make it's way up to Cleveland by Sunday? I assume this is very unlikely, but worth asking. Also, what bar has the best tap list in downtown Cleveland? Thanks!

  28. neelonjm

    neelonjm Initiate (0) Jul 13, 2015 Ohio

Highly doubtful BB Oro is in Cleveland by Sunday when it doesn't release at the brewery until Friday, I can almost guarantee it won't be there but @beace may know better than I. As far as bar with best tap list in the immediate downtown area, City Tap or Winking Lizard are probably your best bets. Butcher and Brewer is on E. 4th street, that's a solid brewery with some good beers. Also on E. 4th is Greenhouse Tavern, which has great food and, from what I hear, Hoof Hearted cans available to drink. You'll pay a heavy premium, but if you really want to try them that's an option.

@beace - Since it's been so long since I've attended a release, will BBORO be available Friday or will it go on sale Saturday like the release beers? (Can we count on 6 or 12 if we're there both days?)

If both days, I'm assuming it'll be available at brewery also, correct?

    In advance, thanks Brad!

Swung by the production brewery today and was in luck: some bottles left over from yesterday's release.

Highly enjoyed the samples I had on tap (Appervation and Cellar Cuvee 11 are WTF good) and then spent far too much money on to-go bottles.

@beace, you have top notch staff. The woman working the bar (and another of your employees chilling at the bar on her day off) were awesome. Talked me thru a bunch of the beers, talked about the town, were exceptionally patient with my questions and large bottle order. Felt like I was at my local. Double their pay.

Agreed with the above posts; another great trip to Jackie O's. Ridiculous stuff on tap and brought home great bottles. Can't ask for me.
