hmmm never saw that on there...is it a response to someone's comment...or what is something they actually posted on their timeline themselves

It was a response to someone's comment. Additionally, I confirmed this with Brad when I visited a couple weekends ago. I'm sure he will post on their blog about it.

Pretty standard bunch of questions virtually any JO's thread has covered...

Anyways, they only bottle at releases so far. They will bottle and distribute around the state later this year (in the middle of building a production brewery atm).

Frankly, they are pretty sketchy with providing info on stuff... they'll mention a release, say "sometime in July" but then wait until 2 weeks before to give the exact date. Then you won't know the exact bottles and pricing until the week of (typically). Just check their website often and you'll know as much as everyone else tbh.

    Not really.

    # of beers released has dropped as well because they are focusing on meeting demand/building the production facility.

Next release will be in August, not sure what date yet due to the busy spring quarter, brew week, production facility, registering, can design, and many other factors. Tentative beers for the release will be, bourbon barrel sweet chocolate love, funky south paw, Thorogood, Bourbon Barrel Skipping stone, and 1/2sharkalligator may be pushed back to that release, we will see. In usual "sketchy" fashion, the main details will be released much closer to the event to ensure that crowds are smaller and we are able to meet the needs of all people attending. With the small numbers that we release we have no choice but to do 1 bottle limits with most of our beers. I wish i could do more, but with our limited space it is not possible. This is the reason for our secretive/sporadic release of details surround dates, beers, prices, and bottle limits. More info will come soon, but for now we are all treading water. I would love to have cans available at the August release, we will see how everything falls into place.

I just meant more people are going, not bottle production.

This is also typically not the case (more people going). A couple of reasons for it:

    1. Bottle allocations are always low, and some people will only make the trip if they know they'll be getting a large amount of bottles.
    2. As Brad (beace) mentioned, they hold back release details (in a "sketchy" fashion, apparently :astonished:) in order to keep the crowd size manageable. They are in the middle of nowhere and it's difficult for many people to just pick up and drive 3+ hours for a weekend trip with only a couple weeks' notice. Which leads me to my final point...
    3. They are in the middle of nowhere. Athens doesn't quite have the thriving craft beer growth of, say, Chicago

    Hence my "not really" comment.

I said that # of beers released have dropped AS WELL to further hit home that these things have kind of stopped growing for the time being. As Brad said, they can't even afford for more people to show up as there isn't enough beer to support a larger crow. Early last year was the craziest the releases ever got, and things have mellowed considerably every release since imo.

To Brad - I guess I was expressing 'frustration' about the info release schedule, but I can tell you are equally frustrated. And I get why you have to do it. Either way, it's no big deal in the grand scheme. Glad to hear the cannning line is nearing readiness, too!

Honestly, the last bottle release was my first time visiting Athens as an adult and I thought it was a great little college town. It's worth the trip.

It's definitely an awesome college town, don't get me wrong. It's just tiny, and far from everywhere else.

who would turn down a beer release is a nice college town...that would just be ludacris...there needs to be a good brewery with releases in East Lansing

I prefer the relative mellowness of Jackie O's on a regular day. The releases can get nuts and it is tough to appreciate the place, especially if it is your first visit.
