Just picked up a growler of this for today. Cannot wait to try it.

Agree, had this last night, it's nice. Kinda not quite IPL, but a little hoppier than regular PS, but in a soft way. Went down pretty darn fast.

Citra Dry-Hopped Excess was also brewed this week. No idea if it's getting canned though. Probably taproom exclusive.

I have the chance to purchase Franconian Kraft cans. I know they’re from late April or something but being 4 plus months old shouldn’t be that big of an issue, right?

They should be fine. If refrigerated at the store, definitely fine.

Oh yeah, damn good. Felt like I was chewing on it. Malty, bready, grainy finish. Fantastic. One of the best breweries in the country.

The only knock I could give Franconian Kraft was that I wish I was drinking it in late Sept when it came out. The beer was awesome in late spring taboot.

My roommate said it wasn’t as good as when it was fresh. I sort of recall the same when I grabbed a single, but I honestly don’t really remember.

Glad it worked out for you.

    It came out twice?

I assumed there’s no way it would taste as good as when it was fresh. I know “old” lagers don’t age terribly but with the kellerbier aspect of unfiltered beer I was a little nervous I’d waste my money but, to me, it was well worth the price. My last few Shipping out of Bostons have been floatie City (another aspect of unfiltered beer) but once I let them settle, that beer is still kicking serious ass.

Some of these Jack’s Abby biers are just as good or, even better than their German brethren as far as I’m concerned. I want to find fresh Smoke and Dagger. Bad.

Giving one of these Octoberfest a tasting right now and it is a magical treat. Priced right too. Nice to be able to get world class beer from great breweries at a reasonable price that I can get with a short trip to a store.

I have never been disappointed by Jack's Abby. It has always been enjoyable and great tasting no matter what the style. Plus the price has always been on the reasonable side.

Copper Legend isn't the best oktoberfest beers I've ever had, but it is quite tasty and at an awesome price point. Jack's Abby's real talent is in making no frills, high quality, approachable beer. There's no pretense to it. They're not beating me over the head with tasting notes to try to get me to pick up on nuances that aren't there. It's just beer. Damn fine beer.

    What about the Framinghammer variants?

Not the kind of beers I prefer. Not a big fan of super high ABV beers, and not a big fan of most adjuncts. I don't dislike them but not something I reach for much.

    Gotcha.

What I meant though was that I put the Framinghammer variants in the opposite category of "no frills, high quality, approachable beer. There's no pretense to it. They're not beating me over the head with tasting notes to try to get me to pick up on nuances that aren't there."

With the exception of the "high quality" part, they're high quality (at least the one's I've had).

Oh, I see your. Yeah, it's not that they don't try to push the envelope or anything, though even the Framinghammer adjuncts and barrel-aged versions is pretty tame as far as that stuff goes (though Springdale obviously has some funky stuff going on). Just for me personally, what I enjoy most about Jack's Abby is the simple, straightforward stuff.

Ditto- give me anyone of their core line-up in any situation and I'm happy.

Postshift and House Lager are my favorites of their core offerings. Wouldn’t mind having those two permanently stocked in my fridge. I like Smoke and Dagger as well, but never tasted any smoke in it.

Also excited to try anything in their Kellerbier series after how much I liked Franconian Kraft.

Their hoppy stuff isn’t my favorite, but a fresh Hoponius is a solid choice.

Did you abbreviate "point" with "."?

    Cocoa-Nut Barrel-Aged, Cordon Rouge Barrel-Aged, Graham Cracker Barrel-Aged, Mole Barrel-Aged, PB&J Barrel-Aged...

By my standards those are a bit more than tame, maybe not WAY over the top, but far from standard.

Smoke and Dagger has always been more Schwarzbier than Rauchbier to my palate, as I also don't pick up any smoke.

Fire in the Ham is a Rauchbier if smoke is what you crave...I missed out on it this year too, damnit.
