Anyone have Hometown Rising? Thoughts? I don't see any reviews for it yet.

 

Grabbed 4 tonight, finished 2, and feeling it. Goes down super easy, a dangerous 8%. Look and body are what you expect, and there's tropical fruit and maybe a little lime or similar citrus in there, stone fruits, not gonna hit you over the head like an "as much as possible" NE DIPA, but doesn't lack for flavor at all. Was expecting more coconut, like I've found with other sabro beers, but this combo is all passion fruit and stone fruit and the like, which is great because I'm not a big coconut guy.

The biggest thing is that there's relatively no bitterness here. So little bitterness that I didn't trust myself, and looked it up on the JA site. All the other Risings are 100+ IBUs, and this one's 30. That's not nothing, but in comparison to the rest of the series, it's a super defining difference, IMO.

I very much look forward to trying it again tomorrow when I have some expectations of what I think it might be. Perhaps the most interesting of the Rising series, though not my fav off the bat. Super worthwhile, for sure.

Does anyone know if they will or have releases the kellerbier doppelbock? It's been far too long since they retired saxonator and I haven't had a chance to try the kellerbier db yet.

 

In addition to this, are they going to release the Munich Fest in cans again this year?

 

Those arent new. I saw those last year.

 

I haven't heard anything about it, but Munich Fest and Ratskeller are now listed for takeout on their ordering website. Each at $12/4-pack. I'm hoping to get there two weeks from now but don't have too much hope that the Fest will still be available after this weekend's event. We'll see.

 

Munich Fest was removed from available beers late afternoon yesterday, sadly. I hope more is coming.

 

Was going to be in the area today and would loved to have grabbed it. Sigh.

 

Saw that Munich Style Festbiers hit some stores last week, but sold out before I could grab any. Anyone know of any still hanging around in any stores in the Waltham,/Watertown/Newton/Belmont area or close-by? It's very difficult for me to get to the brewery in Framingham so late in the day when they open.

Ball Square in Somerville has it (although I don't recall seeing any this past weekend, not that I was looking). Not SUPER close, but maybe close enough...

 

i actually found it at total wine in natick randomly and then happened to see that cbc newton got it a full week after cbc belmont got it. but im good now, picked up 3 4 packs. loved this beer last year.
