Oh no, that creates chaos. Haven't you seen the photos of cats and dogs living together in NY City due to Happy Hour?

Of course! Also seen the massive DUI cases in states that allow Happy Hours <sarcasm font>

But in all actuality the major force in preventing happy hour roll-back is the MRA (Mass Restaurant Association) lobby, which has taken the position to protect the highest liquor prices in the nation under the red herring of increased DUIs (which is complete nonsense per established data from other states which allow it).

Sorry for hijacking the greatness of JA, but in discussion of dumb archaic booze laws I couldn’t resist.

@JacksAbbyBrewing any idea whether this beer will be available at the brewery? Or is it only for the pop-up? Thanks.

The Mooby's beer will only be available as part of the event at House of Blues.

I did the house lager test last night. It was interesting. Before I share my thoughts on the differences, I want to say that while I really like House Lager, and it’s often in my fridge, I’ve always felt it’s carb level was a slight ding (from cans, I don’t have that issue with tap pours at JA). Its mouthfeel feels a bit slick and that doesn’t do any favors to the flavor running on the sweeter side. I’ve also wished it retained head better. So I was interested to see if the other carb methods would offer an improved HL in that regard. Bu my theory didn’t pan out.

I found the krausened version to feel a bit more carbonated. The bubbles felt a bit bigger. It made HL drink a little dryer and a touch more effervescent. The forced carb version went further down that same path but perhaps a bit too far. Forced card did make it drink dryer but also more gassy, if you get me. Ultimately what I noticed from both the krausened and forced carb versions is that while they added dryness, they took away from depth of flavor in the spunded version. So overall I preferred the normal spunded version. Flavor was deepest and uncompromised and drank smoother relative to the others. So there ya go, dispute what I thought could be improvements in the beer wasn’t the case. So… just give me regular ‘ol HL I guess.

My wife preferred the krausened version because she felt it added just enough more dryness and lightness to the mouthfeel without taking much away from flavor and body – just to share a different opinion. We had the same opinion about the forced carb version.

Great review! Hope they post the general consensus afterwards. Looking forward to seeing their rational behind any changes. This is a cool glimpse behind the scenes

Just gotta say I'm loving Boston Rising. 2nd year they've done it and both years I've thought it might be their best DIPL. Tough call against the better batches of Kiwi Rising. But I highly recommend it.

Finally made it to the brewery and picked up a pack of each. The marzen kellerbier is really good. Impressed with how well it stood up to my slow drinking pace--flavor was great out of the fridge all the way to room temp. Carb held up and it never became syrupy or too sweet. I'm hoping this becomes a seasonal release for JA to balance copper legend in the fall.

The ein dussel was also quite nice. I think my palate was a bit off when I had it as hop bitterness was much more pronounced than I expected. Luckily I have three more cans to test my theory.

Thank you for posting this. Was on my radar and now in my fridge. I'm two for two using the beer finder on their site since moving outside of brewery radius. Marzen and Boston Rising.

Every time I have some of their fresh hoppy stuff I wonder why I would ever roll the dice on a $20/4pk of "might be good" hazy IPA. Excess, Mass Rising, and Boston Rising are perfect for me.

Figured I'd follow up on this. Definitely was a palate issue that day. Wonderfully drinkable. I'd love to see more frequent iterations on traditional ales coming out of Springdale.

I may have to make the journey out to the brewery to pick this up. I’m a sucker for a good festbier.

Does anyone know what they are doing now in terms of growler deposits? I know they aren't filling (I think at least), but do they give you a couple bucks if you bring back growlers? I found 3 while doing some organizing and was going to recycle them buy figured I'd see if I could turn them in for a beer instead! Sorry if this was covered earlier and I missed it. Thank you!

    From the FAQ https://jacksabby.com/visit/#1591373877545-874a9569-8833

Can I buy growlers to go?

We are no longer filling or selling growlers, but we are taking returns for deposit.

This is accurate. Scooped a 4 pack this afternoon, and between that and the new Zero Gravity mix packs, I know what I'm purchasing well into July.
