We do not currently offer growlers or crowlers. Kiwi Rising is also unfortunately sold out now. You can see current can availability by checking our take out menu.

Any chance it gets brewed again this year? If not any consideration to can/bottle it next year? Also will Barrel-Aged Framinghammer - Cocoa-Nut make an appearance later this year?

The recent Kiwi Rising came from our new pilot system. We still working on exactly how we are going to rotate beers through it. I would say there is a good chance it will be back before next year. You will hear more from us as we figure things out. Also, most of the pilot beers are being canned.

As for BA Framinghammer, it is too early to say what varieties will be part of the next batch.

Just wanted to say, JA showed how to do a re-branding perfectly. Improving and updated without completely demolishing the old. I really like the updated can designs and information on the packaging.

Some good updates in this morning's newsletter:

Joe Connolly with the next installment of his and Jack's trip to Europe: the Czech Republic this time: https://jacksabby.com/blog/2023/03/czech-republic-trip-recap/
    • Highlights: Jack and Joe are writing a book about lager; the local nature of brewing in the Czech Republic, from farmer to maltster to brewer to tapster

Jeremy Cross, quality manager at JA, on The Brew Deck Podcast (https://countrymaltprd.wpengine.com/s-4-e-4-dont-lose-your-head/). I haven't listened to it yet but here is what the webpage says:
    • Key Points From This Episode:
      • How do you get good head retention
      • Which malts and ingredients provide good head retention
      • The difference between foam-negative and foam-positive factors
      • How does decoction mashing impact head retention
      • How important clean glassware is for head retention
      • What is spunding
      • How to maintain head retention in packaged products

The beer hall is still scheduled to reopen on March 9.

It looks like those of us who are within a reasonable distance of JA are going to be in for quite a treat going forward with the beer hall-only releases. I copied the main section of this week's newsletter below. As they note, the big ticket returns are Fire in the Ham, Mass Rising, Saxonator, and Ratskeller.

I had Fire in the Ham for the first time last year and went from thinking "This is weird" to "Hey, this is pretty good" over the course of a four pack. Probably will pick up a few more cans this time around. Also really looking forward to Saxonator--there aren't enough doppelbocks around anymore.

I'm just about the biggest fan there is of Fire in the Ham. It's a great food pairing beer.

Also love that Mass Rising and Saxonator are seeing releases.

I'm curious to see if my liking of it continues to grow or plateaus at pretty good. I recall drinking it sequentially with beer from other breweries and thinking that it was simply a superiorly brewed beer.

There is now also a post on the website with some nice photos:

Notch usually has a Rauchbier of some type on. This weekend they’ll release their Rauch Bock, so you could compare that to Fire in the Ham.

Has anyone had Brite as Hell, Ratskeller, or the new-recipe Ray Catcher? I'm planning a trip to the beer hall and trying to decide what to get. As I only drink a couple beers a week, I'll likely only get a mix of 12 or so.

I'm so angry they changed Ray Catcher from lemongrass to rice... yet they kept the same name. WTF? It's not even close to as good as it was.

and they released a rice lager earlier this year, seems redundant and confusing for the average consumer.

They have a bit of a history reusing names for different beers. Agree, it can be confusing and frustrating.

Did Jack's discontinue 15 packs of House Lager?

I hope not, it’s such a good deal. That said, I haven’t seen fresh packs with the updated can art yet, and I’ve been keeping an eye out for them.

I quite disliked Ray Catcher. Not a great fan of lemongrass in a beer. Was quite happy to see this post of yours as I would’ve totally ignored it this year thinking it was the same beer. Glad I grabbed some as I’m finding it quite tasty now.

Agree that’s it’s daft keeping the same name.

happy to have found $8 4pks at Total Wine this afternoon.

Their Maifest is excellent, one of the best Maibocks I've had this year...which is saying something.

Also far more sessionable than most at 5.8% ABV.

Agree on the Maifest. Had a mug at the beer hall this weekend and loved it.
Don't love the increased draft prices at the beer hall now, but, such is life these days...

Also loved Maifest. New Polotmavy just dropped as well, need to swing by this week and grab that for sure!
