So what does everybody think? I thought it had just the right amount of smoke but was a little too sweet for my taste. Quite drinkable though.

It also left me with a craving for some honey baked ham. :grinning:

Guess I got a good deal... I paid something like $3.30 for these at Andover Liquors.

It's on draft at Lord Hobo. Just had a pint. I'm not a huge smoked beer fan, and I've had a number of them, but this one has been my favorite sor far.

Pretty much agree wholeheartedly. I love smoked beers, but often find maple makes a beer too sweet, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think the beer worked, it was just a touch too sweet to drink more than one. By the end of my pint I was very much looking forward to a different beer. Somebody who likes maple more will probably love it though.

Was at the brewery yesterday - 6% abv, and $5 each. Whoever paid $3.30 got a deal, but I assume it was a pricing error, or a promotion.

Damn bronchitis, $5 pours of double sunshine, I would have been all over that. Standing room only in there I assume?

holy cow, it wasnt! We were astonished. We got there at 3:15 expecting a struggle for space but the place was half empty. It filled up by 5pm but it seemed like any other regular Sat night at the Truth. It didnt feel packed at all. The tables filled up but they were turning over as they would any other night. Didnt seem like people were lingering to enjoy the beer. I think the perfect weather and the early start time gave people lots of other things to do

I was lucky enough that this was suggested to me on the day of. My girlfriend, her brother-in-law and I got there shortly after 5 and got seats right at the end of the bar by the front entrance. We enjoyed multiple Double Sunshines along with sampling most of everything available from both Jack's Abby and Lawson's. I think that after the Double Sunshine, I've finally convinced her that a weekend trip to Vermont will be in our future. When we had left around 7:30, I believe that only the keg of Double Sunshine had kicked.

I don't love this beer, but I don't think it's bad by any means. It's almost impossible to say whether or not it's correctly done since it's more of a creative spin on a rauch... so it's purely up to personal tastes. It remonds of something Jim Koch would do.

I'm unsure if it's the balance of the smoke and maple against each other, or the combination itself that doesn't marry well for my taste buds. I do like smoked beers so I'm leaning towards the maple being the culprit.

I gotta think this is a great beer to cook with. I'm going to try that with my last bottle.

Had to be a pricing error. Looked like all their JA bottles were priced at $3.30. Didnt realize I was getting a deal until after I purchased them and then saw this thread showing what others were paying.

I had one last night. I thought it was decent enough, but it left me unimpressed. It was a bit too sweet, which I might have been more okay with had there been a stronger maple presence. On the whole it was pretty well balanced, but I was left wanting. I'm looking forward to giving the coffee aged version a shot at the lager cask fundraiser and seeing how that one pays out. I have a feeling the coffee will drown out the soft maple flavor that was there though.

have there been any good collabs involving New England breweries? most have been just ok in my opinion. i enjoyed
the Hill Farmstead Nor by HF and Cigar City, but honestly it tasted like a straight up HF brew.

Prince Tuesday was great. and being brewed at Allagash it does not taste like a normal Allagash brew. Also Walden from The Alchemist and HF was awesome. a less hoppy beer from two hoppy breweries.

My guess is they priced them according to a 24btl case, but this beer and the rest of JA single bottle stuff comes in 18btl cases.

I'm planning on tasting mine tonight and then decide whether it's worth going out to find more when it drops into a few more local shops.
