There have been a lot of Jack's events scheduled for this week in CT. I just came from the tap takeover at Craft 260 in Fairfield. Tried the Hoponius Union, Mass Rising, and Calyptra Hopstitution (limited edition). I was about to try the Jabby Brau but it was described as a "session lager" and the sound of that just really turned me off so I went with a Founders Double Trouble instead.

Hoponius was solid but pretty simple IMO. I'm not used to lagers and this one just lacked the kind of bite I'm accustomed to. The other two were VERY interesting and I enjoyed both although I'd like to venture more into each of these beers as they greatly surpass Hopnius in flavor and complexity.

Thanks to the guys at 260 for the free Jack's pint glass! If any other CT'ers are trying Jack's for the first time, I'd love to hear what you thought.

JA expanding to Connecticut is a good thing. Glad to see them expanding beyond Mass.
Please tell Nebco to start doing the same to Mass.

I used to think the same thing about Jabby Brau. Same with Eureka from Tree House. I was at the Jack's Abby brewery a couple weeks ago and picked up a growler of Jabby Brau and am trying to figure out how I'm going to get back there tomorrow for another.

I hope you get to try more from Jack's Abby soon!

I had a Jabby Brau at Eli Cannons last night. Was just great to see those tap handles! Love their beer.

Just got some Jack's Abby on a trade and boy was it good stuff. Then I went out last Saturday only to find it on draft in the two beer bars I went too along with Space Cake. Glorious.

Glad you guys can get them now, as long as our access doesn't go down. As for Hoponious Union, I drank one side by side with DFH 60 minutes a couple weeks ago, and it was better, and more complex than a DFH 60 minutes...and it wasn't close. Maybe expectations were elevated?

I think Hoponious is better than 60 minute and that's coming from a die hard DFH fan. I actually think that Jack's Abby Mass Rising tastes a lot like DFH 60 to my palate.

Did you mean 90 minute on the Mass Rising (closer comparison)? I haven't done that comparison yet. But I like a good excuse....

I'd say it's somewhere between the 60 - 90 in comparison, definitely smooth. It's been a while since I drank a 60 actually, 90 is usually my go to. Just reminded me of DFH as soon as I drank it. Yeah definitely do a comparison and let me know what you think.

Should be this upcoming month or real soon according to this:

"Jack’s Abby today announced it has signed new agreements with two wholesalers in Connecticut and will begin statewide distribution next month.
The Framingham, Mass.-based brewery has signed contracts with G&G Beverage Distributors, Inc. for coverage in the Fairfield and New Haven counties, as well as L. Knife & Son’s Craft Beer Guild Distributing of Connecticut for distribution throughout the Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, Tolland, Windham and New London counties.

“We are excited to hop over the border and have our beers available throughout the state of Connecticut,” said Sam Hendler, brewery co-owner and director of sales, “We believe that the beer drinkers of Connecticut will respond to our unique craft lagers.”

To prepare for the launch – and to continue growing its existing markets in Massachusetts, upstate New York, and parts of Vermont – the brewery, which opened in 2011, expanded its production capacity from 7,000 barrels in 2013 to 18,000 barrels.

“This gives us the ability to continue to focus on the extended lagering times that bring out the best qualities in our beers,” added Hendler.

Initially, Jack’s Abby will supply on-premise retailers with its Hoponius Union, Jabby Brau, Smoke & Dagger, Leisure Time Lager, Hopstitution, and Mass Rising on draft. Bottled offerings are scheduled to arrive in early August. Additionally, Jack’s Abby’s seasonal and specialty offerings will become available throughout the year."
