Im heading to Jacks Abby today and i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations as far other bars and liquor stores in that area. Im willing to travel to any of framinghams surrounding towns as its about an hour drive from me and i rarely go up that way. If you have been to any places that have had some limited releases recently i would love to know! thanks -xICooRsYIx
Yes, it is. Best selection in the state. Probably in New England since MA has the best distro in the region. Nothing in Framingham but JA worth visiting IMHO. The Vin Bin in Hopkinton has some Night Shift and Evil Twin stuff, and beers like Rico Sauvin.
Oh, one more thing. Julios often has JA on sale, usually cheaper than at the brewery. Something to consider.
The British Beer Company has some solid food and typically some good taps if you're looking for a bite to eat.
I'm already starting to sound like a broken record, but while in Framingham, try the Nobscot IPA at the Beer Works in town. It's usually on tap, and is as good or better than the hoppy offerings from JA - and I'm a fan of JA's hoppy stuff.
I stopped at julios and picked up a few beers and a glass. I was looking for lunch but i went a day too soon as its coming in tomorrow. Ill be back up there again within the next week or so because i purchased 2 of each framinghammer variant from JA today just to get home and realize the guy gave me 2 regular framinghammers instead of the coffee... kinda ticked off but at least it give me an excuse to go back for more beers and to stop at julios again! -xICooRsYIx
Where do you live in MA? Also, by regular, do you mean "regular" barrel aged or just regular, because that would be a significant difference (even in price). You can find the coffee and vanilla on store shelves at times, and the "regular" BA is pretty easy for me to find.
Sorry for the confustion. I got 2 barrel aged framinghammers. meant regular like no added flavor title. Ive seen the BA framinghammer on the shelf once but never the coffee or vanilla -xICooRsYIx
I would take advantage of the tour if you dont have it planned because it is only offered on saturdays. Oh and just make sure you check your bottles before you leave.. Im sure i was just unlucky and its an uncommon occurance, but it sucked getting all the way home and having the wrong beer! Im sure the fact they have a bunch of framinghammers right now makes things a bit more confusing. -xICooRsYIx
They're harvesting their hops on Saturday, I'm heading up to pitch in. Website has details, but you can get a coupon for a growler for participating....
