Stopping in Jacksonville FL near the airport on my way further south. Is there anything worth checking out close by?
For craft beer, there isn't much. There is a Boston's that isn't bad. For entertainment, 747 Club. Enuff said.
Jacksonville FL is probably one of the better if not the best city in all of Florida for craft beer at the moment. If you wait to hit Tampa for some good brew, you're sure missing a lot of great beer. I know that I'm late to this thread but if anyone is in Jax and looking for some great craft beer, here is a list of local breweries all of which have fantastic offerings: Intuition Ale Works Bold City Brewery Ardwolf Brewing Pinglehead Brewing Company Engine 15 Brewing Company Green Room Brewing
You will need a car or a long taxi ride to the beach. Greenroom engine 15 from the airport Riverside is not to bad. bottle shop @ grassroots is nice, a tad pricey imho, nice bomber selection if you want that. the rest do not open until 3pm, sadly , aardwolf is best ATM of the micro brewers aTM, but a tad pricier. I say only because they have guest taps, lots of them. Plus the inside is well way better than anything in TOWN ATM. Then there is kickbacks, but its under construction, when it was 84 tap beer wise it was near the best beer wise and beer only. Some like the food, I cannot figure out why. open 21 hours a day. used to be anyway. check JAX location tab is all I can say and read reviews, decide for yourself. Orange park is way to far to go IMHO Pringlehead I could say more but I will try to be nice.....
K Yes, the Riverside area is easily accessible from the airport going south on I-95. The Riverside area has many options. Breweries Intuition Ale Works Bold City Brewery Restaurants/Pubs Kickbacks is under an expansion at the moment offering only 18 or so beers on tap however, they have a MASSIVE bottle selection (something like 300+ items / Hard to get items). When completed, there will be a huge draft selection bigger then before. Dahlias Pour House is 300 ft form Kickbacks offering 85 beers on tap. Pele's Wood Fire is right down the street with about 50 beers on tap. Lola's Burrito Joint with a large selection of beers on tap. Most of these places offer Pinglehead. You don't have to go to Orange Park to get it. Also, all of these places listed above are within a half mile from each other on the same street (starting to call it the Brewery District?). I am being nice! PROST!
yea riverside has got all but PARKing. lol I was talking tap room at the micro's. IMHO aardwolf is best .,, of the bunch. its not in Riverside though, but HAS great parking.... the nice comment was to myself to be nice and stay positive.
