I'm going to be in Jacksonville October 6-8 and was thinking about hitting a few of the area's brewery taprooms. Looking at Intuition, Bold City, Aardwolf, Seven Bridges, Engine 15 and Green Room. Any advice and recommendations? Intuition and Bold City look like they may be in a not-so-safe part of town....

    Cheers

I'm not a Jax expert, but visited my brother about a month ago. He lives less than a mile from Bold City and Intuition and we visited both. Nothing wrong with that area I don't think.

I've been up to Intuition/Bold City area over a dozen times over the past two years and have never had an issue with the area. There is a Beer 30 bottle shop just down the street and some decent food options in Five Points (about a mile away from Beer 30 - I recommend Corner Taco and Hawkers.)

edit: and near the Beer 30 is a crazy good bakery - forget the name though.

Aardwolf, Intuition and Kickbacks for sure.

Bold City and Intuition are typically pretty safe, just use your situational awareness if you go walking away from the bar area. Green Room is pretty awesome but can get very crowded depending on when you go. If you have the time, drive out to Orange Park (super close nearby city) and go to Brewer's Pizza/Pinglehead Brewing. They have some amazing stuff to offer. Engine 15 has a great vibe and isn't far from Green Room so you might as well hit it up. Also, even though it isn't a brewery, I highly recommend checking out a place called Kickback's. Tons of stuff on tap and great food to boot. It's really close to Bold City so you should do yourself a favor and check it out.

Aardwolf is best. Green Room is at Jax Beach and is solid. Zeta is also at the beach and was pretty mediocre when I went, but it's all walking distance.

Beer:30 has two good bottle shops. Also Ale Wife.

This is the week of the MBAA Conference so things should be lively.

Is Sweet Theory the bakery? Love that place. And I also highly reccomend Corner Taco, especially on Saturdays when they have General Tso's Tacos.

Do Bold City, Intuition, Kickbacks, and add on Beer30 either first or last for some shopping, depending on what time you start this little crawl. Sweet Theory is delicious, and for coffee I highly recommend Bold Bean in the same area as all of the above.

7ish minutes from Bold City and Intuition in San Marco is Aardwolf and my vote for best brewery in Jax, Intuition and Green Room are probably the next best 2, followed by Engine 15 on my places I always visit.

Did this exact same crawl back in March but also included Corner Taco and Hawkers.

Might as well hit them all and get a free T-shirt!

Love that map, very helpful. Heading to Jax for FL/GA game late October and definitely will check some of these places out. Any Recs on best area to stay to have easy access to a few of these places? Beach area? Riverside? Very unfamiliar with Jax so any help is appreciated.

Double Drop from Engine 15 is legit.

I would recommend the south bank area downtown/Sn Marco area. Close to several of the breweries as well as the stadium. Might be tough to get a room, though.

Thanks for all the input! I was there last week and hit Intuition, Seven Bridges, Zeta, Green Room, Engine 15 and Aardwolf. All were pretty solid with the exception of Seven Bridges. Aardwolf and Green Room probably my favorite.

Are any of the places mentioned in this thread sports bars or have ample TV's to watch a game? Or does anyone know any Sports bars in Jacksonville that have a decent craft selection? Heading the Jville for the cocktail party but will be there during games 3,4, and 5 of the World Series so need to find a place to watch my Mets. (staying in the Mayo Clinic Beach area also). Thanks in advance for the help.

Appreciate it. And only in the interest of good beer would a Seminole fan give useful information to a Gator fan.
