Hey all, I'll be in Jacksonville the weekend of January 3rd for a wedding. Planning on hitting up a couple spots that Friday for beer. I was thinking Intuition Aleworks for a few beers. Do they have food as well? Also, what are two to three can't miss bottle shops in the area (is TW worth a stop)? I'll be staying at a hotel in downtown Jacksonville (believe Hilton), so anything within 10-15 miles or less would be ideal. Any reccommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
I would recommend both Intuition and Aardwolf - they both do not serve food but allow you to have food delivered or carried in.
Come hit us and Grassroots up for bottles, we are both near downtown and near each other. All within a few minutes of downtown are Intuition, Bold City, and Aardwolf.
Brought a growler back with me last month - it was amazing! (as were the others - King Street stout and the Old Battle Axe ipa - both Jville locals)
If you are planning on Intuition I would swing by Bold City first (cool locals hangout/brewery), then Intuition (better/more innovative beer), then Kickbacks/goozlepipe (amazing tap list, bar and great food). Start off or end with bottle shopping at Beer30 and Grassroots. If you swing by the San Marco area, only a 10min drive from the above, definitely check out Aardwolf. All of those are easily within 10 miles of your hotel. If you make it out to the beach go to Green Room and Engine 15. cheers
I'll be there a few days before the 2nd for the gator Bowl. Thanks for having this thread going already!
Just so happens I'm a Tennessee fan as well, so grabbed tickets to the game since I'm already in town, and an extending my stay by a day. Thanks for the replies everyone! Always down for good food recommendations as well by the way!
If you're staying at the Hilton in San Marco you're a short walk to Aardwolf which has some interesting beers, as well as guest taps, and rotating food trucks if you want to eat. Otherwise, King Street in riverside has food, beer bars, bottle shops & breweries. As mentioned above I'd definitley hit Kickbacks/Goozlepipe & Guttyworks as they have good food a ridiculous tap list (eventually supposed to be 200+ taps).
Ok fellas, hotel has been set. I am staying at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center on Hartley. Is there anything worthwhile in that proximity? Walking distance preferred, but would be up for a cab as well. I'll be there sometime new years eve and new years day. I am guessing not much will be open :/
There's a Whole Foods right by that hotel and it has a good beer selection. Other than that I'm not sure much is in that area. Your best bet would be to take a cab (probably 20 minutes) to King Street. Here's a link to an infographic for that area. King Street
