Hey Folks, my wife is in NY City for a meeting on Wed. and will be taking a train to and from Penn. Station. I wanted to see if there is anyplace right nearby where she could pick up some Jai Alai? She has limited time so won't be able to go far. Thanks for any information.

Whole Foods on 7th ave at 24th street might have it, 5 minute walk from Penn.

Turns out I don't listen so well and that she is spending the night at the Hilton Midtown hotel so anyplace near there would be great as well.

Thanks to those who have taken a look and replied already.

WF Chelsea (7th and 23rd) and WF Columbus Circle (Broadway and 59th) should both have it. Beer Culture (8th and 45th) also may have it. I also saw it at Ninth Ave Vintner (9th and 46th) the other night, although they want 17.99 a sixer for it.

If you're set on trying it, get it, but I was disappointed myself. Good luck!

There's a little upstart bodega on 9th Ave btw. 39th and 40th streets (on the east side) that has Jai Alai. Whole Foods on 24th and 7th had it as of 3 days ago.

Thanks for getting me to sign up for a site I've lurked on for damn near a decade. I tried my hardest not to, but I wanted to help a brotha out.

Agreed, wasn't that impressed so not sure if it's worth sending your wife on a wild goose chase for it.

If I was that intent on getting it I would just trade for it. I have had a few cans and wanted to try it again so if she can get it then all good, if not then I will live. Anyway, thanks a lot for the tips guys.

I can't add anything to the thread that wasn't said already, but I am curious what the 2 of you didn't like about it? I find Jai Alai to be an amazing beer, though it needs to be fresh, that's for sure (canning date on bottom of can)

With the plethora of options these days, there's just so many others I would prefer. I don't think it's bad, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for it. The 6 of cans I bought was 3 weeks old, so not sure if I'm finding it any fresher in NY.

The Jai Alai at WF on 23rd was canned November 13 - so nearly 60 days old. I have seen it as fresh as 20 days (from Foodtown), but mostly since it has hit NYC it is between 30 and 60 days old, from what I have seen.

Scratch the bodega I mentioned...they are out of it.

They do still have the Bourbon County though for the guy from that thread.
They have a new awning there, I guess it's called the Hells Kitchen Brewtique.

This might not still be true, but I was in Penn Station last week, and it was actually being sold in Penn Station. On the second level, where Amtrak comes in, there is a deli that has cans of it in the fridge.

Holy crap, I'm an idiot. You're right. If you walk in from the 7th ave side, its on the left at the deli by the sushi joint.

Haha yea I saw that last time and was like wtf?! Crazy how much is available now compared to when it first showed up and people were buying out stores.

Yeah. Right about that. I paid like 16 bucks for my first 6-pack, but that was around Halloween or something.

I just got 2 FBSs from that stand on Friday, I'm pretty sure they still had the jai Alai. Haha, can't believe I forgot about that, considering the thread title, especially.
