So last night my brother and I opened a 2011 BCBCS. It was my first but my brother has had it on numerous occasions. Anyway, both of us picked up a jalapeño scent on the nose and the beer was definitely lacking on the coffee flavor (I did t pick up any, my brother did a bit). As the beer warmed up the Jalapeño scent lessened (pretty much went away), but the coffe never came out. As I said, my brother has had this on numerous occasions (it's his favorite beer) and said this was definitely the first time he's seen this. Has anyone ever had this experience or heard of it? Any idea on what could have possibly made this happen?
FWIW, I shared a 3 month old bottle of CBS with my brother. He thought it smelled like jalapeno, though I wasn't getting that at all.
YES!! I totally got the same hot sauce/Jalepeño smell from the BCBCS I had recently. It didn't really smell all that great, honestly. The taste more than made up for it, though there was hardly any coffee in it
