I will be in Janesville in a few weeks for a week and was looking for a good shop or two where I could pick up some beer that doesn't distribute to VA. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that I want to check out is New Glarus...any other breweries I can get in Janesville that do not distribute to VA? Also the name of a good beer bar/restaurant would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys!
Largest bottle shop will probably be Woodman's. Also be sure and pick up anything from Central Waters and you won't be disappointed.
Check out seekabrew.com to see distribution differences between VA and WI. As mentioned, you'll obviously want to try some New Glarus and Central Waters. Also check out Ale Asylum. For a bar, O'Riley & Conway's is decent - in the past they've tapped stuff like KBS.
In Janesville there is Woodman's. Badger Spirits has a pretty solid craft selection with a large mix a six section. Everett's in South Beloit is very good too. Madison is only about 35-40 min drive too.
Do try to get to Grays....not the most wonderful beer....although the oatmeal stout is a good one...but they love to talk beer and brewing
O'Rilley & Conway has the best selection of taps and the food is not too bad. Although one time I was there they were serving Founders Imperial Stout calling it Founder KBS Imperial Stout. It was NOT KBS. Not really a great many selection for beer and food. Lots of options in Madison though.
Has anybody been to Woodman's in Janesville lately? I was wondering if they had any Central Waters, Descuhtes, Dark Horse, Jolly Pumpkin, New Glarus, Three Floyds or Upland....thanks for any info!
I was there last week - they have CW, NG and FFF (limited, Alpha King & Robert the Bruce sixers) for sure. I think they had someDH too. I know they didn't have Upland or Deschutes (I don't think that's distributed in WI). Not sure about JP, but I don't think they had any.
What other FFF did they have and what NG beers? Does Woodmans do mixed sixers or would i have to go to badger spirits for that?
I know they don't do mixed six-packs, so Badger or Everett's in South Beloit, IL is where you'd want to go for that. The NG Woodman's had was whatever is currently out - check the NG website to see the calendar (I was only there picking up Belgian Red/Rasp. Tart for a trade so I didn't look at the sixers). The FFF they had was only the two I listed - if you want more FFF variety (i.e. bombers) I think you have to make the trip up to Madison.
