So next Tuesday, I'm heading to the Newark Airport to pick up family for Christmas. I am considering stopping by the Jersey City Buy Rite because it is "on the way" from Freehold to Newark. Is it worth the trip? What might I find there that I can't find in Monmouth/Ocean Counties?

Its not on the way lets just say that..but I shop there lots, big store w/ lots of what you'd expect in NJ
I don't think you will be surprised by anything except a possible traffic nightmare if you try to go during a rush hr into the tunnel...but it's my go to and my commute route

I'd imagine that there's a store of similar quality in your area that isn't nearly as much of a pain to get to. Not worth it.

Dude you're heading into that area on Dec. 23rd if I'm reading this correctly. This should be the trip, home to airport to home, anything else will not end well for your sanity.

I feel that in addition to the traffic admonitions above that this store has slipped badly over the past 3-4 years; stock is often picked over, tons of out of code beer, indifferent staff. I rarely stop in anymore, even when driving right by.

The store is very good in terms of selection but there are plenty of comparable stores in the Monmouth/Ocean area (having lived both 5 mins from the store as well as in Freehold). I wouldn't venture into that traffic nightmare to check it out. Parking there tends to completely suck around holidays/big drinking days too (Xmas, Thanksgiving, Superbowl, 4th of July, etc.)
