I dont know if they have their own stores, so they might not be considered a "retail licensee" (although I honestly dont know how theyre defining that term)

I also find it interesting because Salt Lick is BYOB for beer. I believe they make their own wine now, but I wouldn't think they actually have a retail license for beer sales. The difference between wine and beer regulation in Texas has been made ever apparent to all of us in the recent legislative efforts.

Now Jester King should make an anti-TABC beer called "Lick My Salt-y [censored]"

I don't know you but I sure do like your style!

I would have renamed it Driftwood. Everyone would have got the point.

I have a bottle socked away for a year or two. Will report back...BRB IN 2 YEARS.

What's this I hear about TABC rejecting the Salt Lick label?

Edit: "In order to ensure that no harm befalls the innocent people of Texas, we have removed all references to The Salt Lick. Our apologies to the residents of the rest of the world for any inconvenience that these changes might have caused."

Lol Jeff. Also, under the TABC's logic for rejecting the label, wouldn't Buddha Brew also violate that? Or am I missing something? And I should clarify I don't exactly find it funny at all. It's downright criminal how beer is treated vs. wine & hard spirits. Ridiculous.

FYI... Salt Lick in Round Rock has a full liquor license (wine, beer, spirits). I think there must be a law in the code that says you can't name a beer after an on premises establishment.

That said... what about Real Ale's Drafthouse ESB?! That's named after the Alamo Drafthouse and was their house beer for a long time. Another instance of keg-only though.

Jeff... how does keg approval differ from bottle approval? Because I know I bought a glass of Salt Lick at Craft Pride about a month ago. Why is the name alright in kegs, but not bottles?

Might have to do more with the graphic and less with the name. Just a thought.

We'll have to see if and when this gets bottled. Our strawberry addition is only experimental at this point. On the other hand, we're excited to say that our barrel aged sour beer with raspberries has now been bottled.

I think I finally cleaned out the RU-55 at Central Market Westgate. I picked up the very last bottle on the shelf and there was none laying around anywhere else. Still have a ton of El Cedro (which I actually like more in bottles than I did on draft, believe it or not).

The new Salt Lick label reminds me of the Thrash Metal label, which also had the word "STRONG" redacted due to approval issues (back when using descriptive language for strength was a no-no with the TABC). That was a little more subtle though (which gives me the impression that Jeff is even more pissed at this, lol)
