My brother went today. Said the VM, Ol Oi, and experimental sour were all excellent. Wish I could've made it, but that's the way the ship sails sometimes.

Also, what's in the mezcal barrels?

From what Jeff said last time I was there it's a collaboration beer between the folks at West Lakeview Liquors here in Chicago and Jester King, brewed for WLV's 25th year anniversary this year. Can't remember the exact details on the beer though..

I'm still waiting for a beer called "Death Metal". It will be epic.

How's about some bourbon barrel aged OG Black Metal? That'd be worthy of the title, I think.

This has promises or an Islay scotch barrel aged OB BM. Add a little peat reak to that stout. My personal preference is Laphroaig.

Barrel aged Schwartzbier or Black IPA. That stuff needs to be as dark as death.

I was thinking that, then realized that I don't think that I've ever seen it done. I assumed that there was some sort of reason, but couldn't figure it out what it might have been. That would definitely be amazing, though. Are there scotch barrel aged beers...?

JW Lee's English Barleywine has a bottle aged in Lagavulin barrels. And let me tell you, holy smoke Batman!

A... a scotch barrel aged English barleywine? That's just not fair. I want some :slight_frown:.

For American breweries... Schlafly did a barrel aged scotch ale in scotch barrels.

I brought a Brewdog/3 Floyds collab "Bitch Please" to the last Nobi bottle share. Aged in old Jura barrels I think... Was surprised at how tasty it was. Especially since I have not had a single Brewdog beer I've liked so far (I was 50/50 on Tokio)

I had the Brewdog aged in Ardbeg. It was pretty tasty IIRC. Had it on tap at Brew's Brothers last June.

Death Metal must incorporate maple, bacon, and doughnut. For an Austin version, I propose Barrel-Aged Flying Pig Imperial Porter.

Edit: Blaecorn Unidragon starting to get to me. Time to go to bed...

They should do a collab with Fantome and call it sludge metal.

Based on the last Fantome I had (Fantome Hiver)... more like "Burnt Rubber". It smelled and tasted exactly like drinking a burning car tire! (folks at the February Austin BA Tasting can back me up on this, lol)
