I had 1 fantome. Noel. It was straight shampoo. Never spending $16+ on a gamble again when better beer is right next to it

It was sad-making. The Hiver I had before that was amazing.

Half of the Fantomes I have had were superb. The other half were meh. Haven't run into the shampoo effect yet.

Speed Metal should be super coffee forward. If JK wants to get way into genres a Blackened Death Metal seems like it would be awesome.

Yep. I'm sticking to Fantome when I'm out of Texas and at restaurants... since I can be like "get this shit away from me, wtf are you serving?"

Am I the only one worried that Jester King will never again make a true english-style stout or porter? Or even an IPA (past Wytchmaker, of course)

They certainly don't seem interested in doing it right now.

That said, more Buddha's Brew, plz.

I much prefer the more farmhouse/Belgian style of things so I don't care.
I missed the Buddha release due to being out of town. I really want to try it!

Most likely not. Or as said, it will only be done as a home brew type of thing.

I'm actually constantly surprised they still make Wytchmaker.

Personally, IMO, I think they are keeping BM and Wytchmaker just to round out their portfolio of beers. Doing completely away with what put money in your pocket to get your brewery up and going, would be a not a cool thing.

I think there's more to it than just rounding out their portfolio. I believe Jeff has said on here before that they make/sell way more Black Metal than anything else. I bet Wytchmaker is probably second. Why would they stop making their most popular beer just because a few BAs don't care for it?

I'm not worried. I'm pretty sure they won't, and I'm fine with that. A lot of breweries settle on a house yeast. For Jester King, it's a saison yeast. I don't miss the English stuff because everything new they're putting out is just as exciting and wonderful, if not more.

If anyone is looking, there's plenty of El Cedro and Hellfighter Porter at Whole Foods Sugar Land.

What did Ol Oi taste like? Isn't it just a soured Commercial Suicide?

I had it way back in October during Austin Beer Week... yeah, it's pretty much a ramped up version of CS (higher ABV) then soured. Very good stuff.

Reminded me a bit of Odell's The Meddler if you've had that.

No strange taste like CS then? B/C I drain poured Commercial Suicide. I liked the idea better than the beer.

Well, it's not aged with oak spirals like CS, as far as I know... which may be where your strange taste is coming from.

This years is way "oakier" than the original batch. I hope they can get it back to the smooth, easy drinking mild that it was.
