I received a bottle of this as part of a gift and I personally do not like smokey beers. In fact, it happens to be one characteristic that almost always leads to drain pour for me and someone else who likes this should enjoy it. For those who like smokey beers, is this one worth anything? I would like to try to get something I would enjoy for it, but don't know if it is "worth" much (no idea on bottle count or distribution). I didn't even see a review on here. Any help would be appreciated. Not trying to max value out of it, but determine what is fair and what I could expect. Cheers
Lucky you. Its only just started leaking out here in Texas in the past few days. Because of TX labeling laws, JK can actually ship their beer out to Chicago (they have a few spots there they ship to) BEFORE its available here in Texas. That's probably why there aren't any reviews yet, although I've had it at a Texas beer fest and yesterday at a bottle share, and its pretty good, but different. I dont know what its worth, trade-wise, but Jester King has limited distribution, so their beers tend to trade well. I will tell you, however, that the Gots is also going to be available through the rare beer club, so it won't be as rare as some of their other stuff (despite a small bottle count)
Thanks for the reply. That is where I got it from. I just don't even know what would be fair to ask in return, if anyone cares in trying, or if I should go straight up for a Lime-A-Rita!
Have you tried this beer yet? I did not think it was actually overwhelmingly smokey and I hate smokey beers. I used some of mine to make some pasta and then drank the beer along side it and it actually was a very pleasant meal. If you are willing to take the risk, it is worth giving cooking with it a shot.
