Hi all, i will be heading to austin for a conference in November and unfortunately it is only during the week, mon-thurs and i see jester king is only open friday saturday sunday.

Is there any places in downtown austin that sells JK bottles? I'd love to pick some up while i'm in the area.

    Any help is appreciated!

You're much better off setting up a trade as many of the releases will be brewery only. East 1st Grocery, Central Market, and Whole Foods (maybe -- I haven't been in a while) should carry the beers that see wider distribution.

You can also occasionally find bottles to go at some bars, but I can't speak to how expensive it'll be when compared to shops and availability is even more sporadic.

Truth is, no one actually knows, particularly 3 months out. Their releases are unpredictable, and their distribution outside of brewery sales is even more so. As said above, check East 1st grocery or maybe Whichcraft. They are close to downtown.

I work at a place that does a lot of craft brews, by bottle, can, and draft, and the only way you'll really get to have a chance at some Jester King is to go to the brewery. The specifics allude me now, but something something law and distribution makes it easier for them to just claim themselves as a brewpub and sell their beer by the bottle and draft out at their brewery in Dripping Springs.

Somethimes you MIGHT find a common beer from them in a craft beer market, but that is pretty rare nowadays. And the rare stuff? Pifff, you'll only find that at the brewery. Sometimes they might send a batch of special beer to someplace like WFM, but since it usually never happens, it's not good to rely on that method. Since the brewery is the only place to get it and everyone knows that, it usually flies fast.

My suggestion would be to get there on Friday when they first open and get your pick of their current litter.

Hopefully by then they'll be open more than just 3 days a week, but who knows. I know its in the "someday" plans. Otherwise, trading is really your best route for getting most things.

If you just want to stop by to purchase bottles to go, that's no problem. Someone will be around during the day. We can't offer any tours or tastings however. Cheers.

We elected to operate as a brewpub primarily so we can sell beer to go. Offering guest beer, wine, cider and sake was also important to us. Finally, we're not in Dripping Springs. Our official designation is "unincorporated Austin". Cheers.

As if I'd be so lucky! Been a loooong time since I've spoken to Garrett, back in his volunteering days for the brewery. I always did want to volunteer... Probably never got in 'cause I kept saying it was in Dripping Springs. Doh!

Sorry to bring this back to life, but anyone know of a cab service etc that goes from center city(convection center area) to jester king? Turns out we won't have a car and would love to get out there to pick up s couple things to bring home, sounds like it might not be easy though!

Uber is your best bet. It will still run you 30-40 though.

And may be hard to get one back.
