I will be in town this weekend and have most of Saturday to burn. I admit I am typically not a fan of the style of beer that JK brews, not hating, but like I said, I have a day to burn. Is there anything they have this weekend worth going to try?

 

If you don't like the beers they brew why waste your time? Go to Hops & Grain or Austin Beerworks.

Is it correct that you can only get bottles when the tasting room is open and that's only fri- sun afternoons?

 

correct. There are sometimes "shelf" releases, but it's sporadic and it's probably not what you're looking for. Snorkel is at my local whole foods at the moment. There might be some ambree, petit prince and stuff like that around.

 

Man. I'm going to be there Tuesday through Thursday. Guess I will miss out. No store or merchandise sales either? Good food/ beer recommendations otherwise?

 

I feel you. I was right by De Garde this summer for the 3 days that they were closed. Just how it worked out.

I'd say the best way to get some local/good beers in the middle of the week would be to just go to Rainey Street (downtown) and hit Bangers and Craft Pride. Craft Pride is all texas beer and Bangers has a pretty large selection of craft on tap. Pinthouse Pizza also has some great stuff. There are other threads that go through all the typical places.

 

JK will sometimes let out of towners swing by the brewery to buy bottles on off days. But, you wont get anything with a limit on it.

I would shoot them an email and maybe they can tell you.

 

Does Jester King ever make it up to the Denton or DFW area? If so, is it common and is it just the usual 750's?

 

They do get some distribution randomly. It will just be the 750ml that they make more of.

 

I've seen Le Petit Prince, Noble King, Gotlandsdricka, Provenance, Ambree, Mad Meg, Snorkel, and maybe a couple others this summer. Pretty easy to find if you know where to look, but don't expect the hard to find stuff.

 

Any places in Austin have JK on draft?

 

Not really. They don't tend to send out kegs often.
