Just went to an amazing restaurant/bar on Congress St. in Boston called Tavern Road. I had pork every way you can prepare it. I was very surprised to order some Jester King Commercial Suicide! Has anyone else seen this brewery in Boston? If not, go there and try the Porchetta!
I don't think it's necessarily "legally" available in Boston: http://jesterkingbrewery.com/out-of-state-distribution Been alot of bootleg activity going on with illegally acquired beers around here recently (see: Heady Topper availability). Until someone gets busted for doing it, it will continue....or if anyone cares to enforce/abide by alcohol laws.
Hmmmmmmm JK Commercial Suicide lisedt right on the online menu (no price). Wonder if it's left over from the Shelton Festival Last summer, or if the Sheltons are distributing it in MA now? Or it's just bootlegged? (is that even a word)
Not sure if it's a temporary or permanent thing, but I'm pretty sure it's legal. A local store in Portland got some as well
Bottles? Sounds like people have only seen it on tap, or am I misunderstanding that? I've got an obvious interest in some of the beers from this outfit...
Just checked the FAQ on the JK website. It does say something to the effect of "when we have extra beer" we send it to X places through Y distributors. MA is listed through Shelton Bros link: http://jesterkingbrewery.com/faq check the Are your products available outside of Texas? "tab"
I saw a lot of bottles at hunger mountain coop recently. I was looking at Tavern Road's menu last week when they opened and thought it was weird seeing jester king there but havent found it anywhere else. Nice to hear the place is good. Initial yelp reviews seemed like the usual people who don't know what they are talking about. Did you actually read that link or just see an opportunity for another rant?
Yes I did. Why would they send beer here when folks in TX fall all over themselves to acquire it? Just take a look at the Southwest forum, Jester King threads rival those of HF in the New England forum.
I dont know why they would send beer here. Obviously someone drove to Texas while on their weekly Heady Topper run and picked some up.
JK sends some of their primary lineup to lots of different places (CA, Chicago, I hear S. Carolina now, etc.) but not typically their smaller batch/sour stuff. They've made it clear that their goal is to service TX first, and then only send to other places when that need is met, so I think thats why it tends to be somewhat irregular.
