Or you could just spend some time reading the forums and Alewatchers's guide to trading. There is no secret to the trade game, you find someone who wants what you can get in trade for something you can't get. Don't start with the big Texas "walez" trades, you would already be in over your head. A few simple locals for locals trades is the way to start.

You'd be surprised what beers people want in trades. It doesn't have to be "whalez, bro" to get good beer.

I have made fantastic trades that were based around Jester King and St. Arnold beers

Just offer up locals, people are interested. They don't have to be super ultra mega rare walez.

I'm supposed to return from China that Sunday morning, so hopefully I can make it for some drunken jetlagged sour goodness. I have a feeling EVA Air will screw me over again. :slight_frown:

As an 'old man' who earned money in the 70's picking dewberries in the back pasture to sell door to door for a dollar a gallon, there is not a beer that would speak to me more than a Jester King wild ale made with blackberries (dewberries). I am there!!!

I used to pick them as a kid and go home and make pies and cobblers with my mom. Soooooo gooooood! Got in trouble at elementary school because I would pick and eat them during recess. Great times...

Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but is anyone else surprised by this announcement? Kind of caught me off guard, but quite excited.

I don't mean to pick on you, but some of your other posts lead me to believe you are new to beer. I'm not sure if you want to get into trading so early on, especially if you're wael hunting from the get go.
There's plenty of good beer in your own backyard to try.

I wasn't caught off guard. I've been expecting some more info to come out. I figured with Funk n Sour 3 coming up, they would definitely have some tricks up their sleeves. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear some other exciting news soon. I also go to JK way too much and inevitably talk to a lot of the people that work there.

Funk n Sour 1 and 2 have easily been some of my favorite beer events in Austin. I can't wait for the third iteration. I believe 1 was the first time I ever tried Boxer's and 2 was the first time I tried RU-55 and Ol Oi. All have since become some of my favorite brews.

Nice, more surprises make me happy (but not the wallet)

I recall (fuzzily) meeting you at the July bottle share, I don't think I saw you at the first AR or Zwanze day shares.
There was some beer jabber going on at Zwanze, but I was in the dark on nocturn chrysalis.

I thought the label was actually a bit boring for JK.

Yeah I was at a couple shares over the summer. I can't really do the Saturday bottle shares for a while since I'm working on a master's degree (Friday night / Saturday classes). I'm really thankful that Funk n Sour will be on a Sunday this year.

Just turned 21 in May, I'm not at all afraid to admit that I'm new to this. And yeah, I'm well aware there's plenty of good stuff local. But if I get an opportunity to grab something ridiculous, I'm gonna take that opportunity. I'll be headed back to MA for December, you better believe I'll be checking out Jacks Abbey, and driving up to Hill Farmstead, for example.

I like sending beers to people that take care of me and that send me beers from other parts of the country that I wouldn't normally get a hold of.

Having a few extras here and there never hurt any one and if I have the extra monies, you can be damn sure I am buying my full allotment(whatever that may be)

This beer sounds exciting, but the event is what I can't wait for. Hanging out with more BA's and drinking good beer is what I am all about. 21 years old to Old as Dirt is okay with me.

Make sure you leave your self plenty of time to get to and from HF. It's about a 6 hour round trip
