Jester King has done some several amazing collaborations before with renown breweries such as Live Oak, Bruery Terreux, Crooked Stave, Mikkeller, and Evil Twin. Well, ladies and gentlemen, you can now add Side Project to that ever-growing list.

Earlier today, both breweries announced the collaboration along with Off Color Brewing in thier Twitters and Facebooks.

It's some sort of mixed fermentation beer aged in barrels. Looking forward to this one as well.

I was disappointed with their Prairie Artisan collab (Natural Union), two of my favorite breweries. A couple of the things I love about Jester, though, is their continued experimentation with their wild ale ingredients (Snorkel's mushrooms + sea salt worked well) and collaborations with breweries they are truly fans of. The two they made with Live Oak were pretty darn good.

I am, too! I hope that they distribute from the brewery unlike their last collab with The Bruery. I had to trade to get that one.

I'm still wondering what the deal is with Zwanze Day. Did that ever happen? Still waiting for licensure to allow Cantillon? What's the story there? Thought Texas was pro-business.

I never tried Natural Union, but I heard it wasn't that great. I have only tried one of the brews with Live Oak and I liked it.

I spoke with one of the founders of JK. He said that Cantillon won't be coming to Texas anytime soon. It's too expensive right now for them.

As the JK guys have made clear, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission code makes it a hassle to sell out-of-state beer in Texas. The state charges brewers $7000 every two years to sell both “beer” and “ale”. Until this archaic law gets changed, we will be limited. We have seen Six Point, Oskar Blues, Ballast Point only in recent years, who must have decided it is worth the investment to "shell out".

Does this mean it'll be distributed? Side Project is one of the closest top rated breweries to me, and yet I've tried zilch of their brews. Maybe that'll change soon.

Assuming as it was brewed and bottled at Jester King that these exact bottles will not be distributed but that Side Project will make a batch of their own? @jesterkingbeer

Not ALL JK is distributed but a decent amount is. Their special releases (ie Atrial, Fen Tao, etc) definitely aren't distributed. It kinda just depends on what your looking for and how much they brewed.

I've only had one of their collaborations (Dystopian Forest, But It's OK, with Tired Hands) and it was delicious.
