Brewery parties or not, law changes to allow sales at the brewery or not, I reckon we're all just waiting for that happy day when we can pick up a Bonnie the Rare, Boxer's, Wunderkind etc as easily as a La Folie, Cuvée de René, Duchesse de Bourgogne or Goudenband. Keep on doing what you're doing Jeff.

I live like 15 minutes from the brewery in South Austin. You'll be getting bottle releases at Deep Ellum or other breweries up in Dallas... so it all evens out!

The solution is: Drink Local! If people would just drink local, it would solve half the problems on these boards! :grinning: *pops open Goose Island* ... What, I didn't say I wasn't PART of the problem!

I really just want the Texas version of Dark Lord Day to hold over other BA's heads to tell ya the truth.

La Muerta Day. I've never been but I have seen the bottle share graveyard and it is a thing to behold.

La Muerta Day is the shiznit. It's great to see more and more BA's come out every year.

Drinking a Bonnie now. Getting better as it warms. I really like the lemon tartness, reminds me of a toned down Petrus (but I'm not an expert). Some nice apple juice in the finish. Much like Boxer's there are a bunch of flavors in it and it's really challenging to pick them out. On that note, less BA more beer

I finally got me a bottle of Bonnie the Rare. The downside was that I had to pay restaurant markup for it. The upside is that there are restaurants in this town (Red's Porch) where you can get beers like Bonnie the Rare.

Toned down petrus? Oh that's disappointing. I expect berliners to be extremely sour.

Depends on the Petrus. The oak aged pale is pretty tart. Much more so than Monk's Cafe.

The Pale is what I had in mind. Which I find up there with Jacobins on the tartness meter for shelf beer. Bonnie was very fresh and live in the mouth compared to them but with less pucker. This is where my relative inexperience with beer in general and the style specifically makes me the wrong person to ask. I enjoyed the bottle immensely, amazing value at 7.99 or 8.99. Seasonal summer offering perhaps?

Come on dude you want everything to be extremely sour lol. I expect a berliner to be sour yet balanced. I've only had a few though but the ones I've had have been balanced. Sounds like Bonnie is right up my alley.

The Bonnie I had had a subdued sourness to it. Still a tasty brew.

Hah I still hate most sours but I was introduced to Berliners recently and I could tolerate it because of the balance. I really want to try one of those fruited Berliners from Florida.
