Seriously? Guess that's what happens when a reputation is set and causes you to steer clear of an area! :grinning:

(probably been 35 years since I was in Wheaton!)

Guess I'm not the only one, from the Daily Herald in 2011:

As a matter of fact there is a fairly new brewery in Wheaton called...Dry City Brew Works.

If you're in the area, check out Warren's Ale house in Danada. They usually have some good locals on tap.

In Wheaton there are no stand alone liquor stores. You can purchase liquor at grocery and convenience stores. The convenience stores have to keep the beer in a locked cooler with a store clerk pushing a button to release the door to open. This convenience store option is new. There is the Dry City Brewery ( mentioned above) in lovely downtown Wheaton on Main St by Front Street. Warren's Ale House( mentioned above) on Naperville Rd north of Butterfield Rd.We have many grocery stores selling beer with the Build your own 6 pack. There are 2 Jewel/Oscos, Mariano's, Whole Foods, Ultra Foods, and Fresh Market. Remember when visiting Wheaton we have more churches and stops signs then most towns and downtown Wheaton has many restaurants and spas. Added note--- Caputo's Fresh Markets( opened in 2014) sells craft beer at their latest store in Carol Stream at North Ave(Rt 64) and Schmale Rd. At this location they have a bar with craft beers to drink and a large craft section to shop at. This location is on the border of Wheaton.

Didn't see a Mariano's thread, so I'll post here. I found an APA yesterday at Mariano's brewed specifically for them. Forgot the brewery. I feel like it was a southside one though.

The Mariano's stores are owned by Roundy's out of Wisconsin. Their beers are sold under the Barley & Bricks Brewery name aka B and B brewery . The beer is contract brewed by Stevens Point Brewery. I think they have an IPA, pilesener lager,Irish stout, Wheat Belgian white ale,and a seasonal selection. The Mariano's in Illinois have a build you own 6 pack section of about 200 craft and macro beers.

Was glad to see this post. Going to be in Chicago for a few days this week. Staying at an embassy suites downtown that has a jewel osco right next to it. I know Binny's is a 10 minute walk away, but was curious about what I could find here. So many locals I am looking to try, so was hoping for some singles or mix and match. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I guess you're not out anything by checking, BUT Binny's will have a much better selection. And anything you can find at Jewel, you'll find that and much more at Binny's. Binny's will also have a mix-6 selection and all of the local options including a reasonable selection of Pipeworks bombers.

Thank you for the info! Didn't know if either would have the mix 6, but knowing Binny's does is good info. Beer shopping time might be pretty limited with two young kids, so might need to just go with the sure thing. Will be nice to get some things that we don't get here in Michigan.

My 2 local Jewel stores have mix-sixes now too, but Hoos78 is probably correct in suggesting Binny's will have a bigger selection. All IPAs, but a bigger selection. (just kidding IPA tickers! :grinning:)
