You'll probably have to go to Houston.

Only Spec's downtown got it. Very limited release 4 cases only. Sold out in 30 minutes. Or so I was told.

You had to ask for it, but still they were selective.

Apparently Azzy bought them out, along with 2 cases of Bud Light Chelada.

You laugh, but my friends up in the Northeast are strangely fascinated by Bud Light Chelada. One of them brought back a tall boy from the liquor store and I told him to get that shit straight out of my house.

Because they can. It's the same reason why Fantome brews 20 diffent saisons. Different takes on the same style can be an interesting learning experience for both the brewer and the consumer.

Why do (512) brew Whiskey Barrel Double Pecan Porter? Why do Thirsty Planet brew Double Buckethead?

Because they want to, because they think we want to drink it (no argument from me on that one), because they want to push their limits, because it's fun, because they're inventive, because they're beer geeks, because we're beer geeks. Probably not because it's easy and/or makes them a whole heap of money.

Pick any one or more of those reasons, plus a bunch more I can't even think of right now. Damn you, beer. Why do you do that to my brane?

Ill even throw in, one i had tonight. May not be a BIG beer, but its a damn fine awesome variation.

    Stones smoked porter, fucking great.

Stones smoked porter, vanilla bean......out of THIS WORLD. Id pay at least double what i paid for the few bottles i have(first one i drank tonight) and if i had more money, id buy all of the ones i find from here on out.

but hey, thats why we love our beer.

I tried das uberkind at the funk n' sour fest. It was definitely different from das wunderkind, I probably preferred it more. It was one of the standouts of the day for me.

From reading the descriptions on the JK website:

    • Wunderkind appears to be a mature beer that is inoculated with souring bugs and also dry-hopped. ABV = 4.5%
    • Uberkind looks to have been aged longer in the souring barrels, thus the "old saison" description. ABV = 6.9%
Maybe Jeff can enlighten us a bit more with his press release.

I had it at GABF and Funk & Sour and really enjoyed it. Was like an imperial version of DW. Tasty.

Yes. We have a press release planned to coincide with Das Uberkind's bottle release that will address these questions. In the meantime, thanks for your patience.
