I picked up a NK at the F&S fest this weekend and consumed it yesterday. Does anyone know if they have changed the recipe for NK? I noticed on the label they mention using wild yeast and souring bacteria. I dont recall that being the case before but its been about a year or so since I have had it. I enjoyed the beer but didnt remember anyone mentioning changes with the recipe or additions of the wild yeast and souring bacteria. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you weren't drinking a Das Wunderkind!?

I am sure it was not Das. It was in a Noble King bottle and the the label info on the side mentioned the addition of wild yeast and bacteria. I didnt have an old bottle for comparison purposes though. Also, I checked th website and it only mentions the addition of the farmhouse yeast.

That's weird, I haven't had a NK in a long long time but that has got to be a misplaced label or printing error

Every time I go there I see barrels marked NK+DAS. Maybe that's it.

I remember hearing something about them making a change like this to the recipes of their flagship beers. I know they've released beers like this as "Experimental Black Metal" etc. in the tap room, where it is a blend of the beer with a bit of their house bugs tossed in. I'm sure Jeff or Ron could clarify though

Ok, I took a pic with my iPhone but am struggling with posting it. The label here states it uses farmhouse yeast, wild yeast from the Texas hill country, Brett, and souring bacteria.

Definitely a change. Looks like the Final Gravity changed as well, maybe that Brett working a little extra hard.

Hope to try a batch of this soon!

I'll actually try that beer again. I never cared for it before but I'm willing to take a second chance.

It was enjoyable and I wanted to drink it fresh to take advantage of the hops. It seemed a bit brighter in color and I could taste the souring a bit. So does this initiate a run on OG Noble King? Matt Chow, can we get a ruling on this?
