How are they drinking now? I have a bottle of each and was wondering when to pop the tops.

Enjoyed them all at various stages of aging. Opened a B1 Lemon Lime about a month ago. Extremely refreshing.

I had a blend two O & G last weekend and it was difficult to get through. Hardly any of the fruit came through. The light tartness that made blend one so good, wasn't there either. It was mostly rubber and band aids. I'd recommend sitting on it for awhile still.

I second that on the batch 2 O&G. Hands down the worst beer I've had from JK. No fruit, no funk, just a hard to drink bland bitter beer. I do not see age helping it at all. Lemon & Lime was good though.

That's a shame to hear about the O & G Provenance. I got a bottle of that for my brothers best man gift, among other things as well. Maybe I should swap that one out for something else...

I prefer Lemon/Lime but I don't agree that O&G was bad. I thought it had a nice brett aroma/flavor but it was light on the fruit. The Lemon/Lime has a nice tartness to it that I love.

The L/L is still drinking very well and one of my favorite beers that Jester King makes. The O/G was something to me that I remember drinking, but don't recall enjoying it all that much. I still have a bottle in the fridge and I might crack one open for science.

Extra time won't help it. If you're getting those phenolics there really isn't any going back.

fwiw, I had the exact same experience as @JamLand and @StArnoldFan except with bottled Batch 2 LL. I had it right when it hit distro, so I can't comment on how it's drinking right now exactly. I had the O&G on tap at JK and it was definitely better, but didn't like it nearly as much as my memory of Batch 1 (also on tap).

Jester King should be ashamed of themselves for the O&G. It was disgusting and easily the worst beer I've ever tasted. It tasted like they dumped chemical flavoring into it. They should offer refunds for this "beer" if they have any integrity at all. The L&L was very good, like others have said. I wish I had more of it.

Had an b2 O&G this weekend and shared it with some wine drinkers. I forgot how much it differed from batch 1 :slight_frown: They liked it but they didn't know what they were missing

    Hi everyone,

It's good to have feedback on beer that leaves our brewery. I certainly respect the opinions you all have, and as such I just pulled a bottle of O&G 2015 from the cellar here to evaluate. I will agree that the citrus character is a bit lost in this one. Believe it or not, hops/fruit/adjuncts can come and go in our beer. Mixed culture fermentation tends to zig zag in and out of different microbial dominance. As a result, peripheral ingredients can be evident and hidden at different stages, even once a beer is packaged. I'm afraid I don't find the various phenolic characteristics many of you described in this batch to be overtly prevalent. It (the bottle I am evaluating right now) is perhaps a bit more phenolic than our other beers of similar stature, such as Noble King, Biere de Miel, etc., but nothing jumps out to me that would render this beer bad, or even undrinkable. But, I have a different set of sensory tools than the rest of you and am willing to respect that maybe I'm not picking up on something the rest of you are.

Also, for the record, the beer I am most "ashamed" of public release is....gasp....batch #1 of Orange and Grapefruit Provenance.

This probably doesn't need to be said, but personally, talk of refunds and being ashamed sounds pretty ridiculous and overblown to me. It's just beer. Sometimes it doesn't work out.

"It's just beer. Sometimes it doesn't work out." I agree with this 100%. Don't sell it though. Don't try to pass it off as something it isn't (not saying they intentionally did). It's not a case where the beer was of a certain style that wasn't appealing to everybody. There's just something wrong with this beer. There are far too many reports of this beer being undrinkable, disgusting, etc for it to be a random problem. The L&L was very good. There's no way the O&G could be this bad without there being an actual issue with it.

I ended up opening the O & G Batch #2 that I had. I never had Batch #1 so I can't compare experiences, but I found nothing wrong with Batch #2. In fact, I did pick up the orange when it was at room temp, and I even detected grapefruit in the finish. I thought it was great.
