this is pretty damn good. it’s really mango forward, so if fruit in your ipa is not your thing, steer clear. mango, vanilla, tropical hop flavors. like a mango creamsicle.

Thought it was decent, but outshined by the new Brando batch + Another Dimension was stellar.

...Thoughts on BA Edge? Coconut may be a tad bit forward/artificial yet the presentation exceeded one dimension – Impressively layered

Agreed on the new Brando batch. Great stuff. I also couldn't see myself having more than a single glass of Mango Frappe in a sitting, given how dessert-y it was, but still dug it.

Had BA Edge from a bottle at home (didn't try it on draft). I liked it. Didn't get coconut in the profile, but it was quite chocolatey and boozy (but in a good way). Could have used a little more body, but it's not like it comes off as thin. Definitely deserves to be consumed a hair below room temp. $12 for a bomber is a nice price too.

Some coconut flakes in the aroma, and more in the palate as it opened. Nonetheless, the flavor profile was predominately run by chocolate brownies, coffee, cocoa powder and subtle vanilla as it hit room temp: s'mores. Barrel character was faint yet the restrained body helped bring out more of the complexity. Looking forward to the ongoing progression -

Had lunch @ JH’s yesterday - 1st visit in over 15 years. The place itself & the food menu seemed eerily the same as the last time I was there.

But the beer has definitely changed - for the better. Gone are the early 00’s corporate brewpub staples - a Brown, a Pale, a malty IPA, a straight-up Porter, etc etc etc. In their place were modern styles & original offerings- 2 NEIPA’s , a sour, Imperial Stout & other offerings. Quite an improvement.

The Brando IPA was very tasty, in the same class as Trill IMO. The Pils was spot on, & I enjoyed a taste of some type of pink berry beer. Also sampled the Mango IPA, but it just wasn’t my thing (personal opinion, but I can see how others could dig it).

I’ll try to make it back before another 15 yrs.

Smart move on the other guy to grab Brian from JH and sell cans of his kind of IPAs - they should get as much traffic as Trillium. Too bad for JH - not sure they realized what they had. Bummed he's leaving town again but fortunately I have family close enough to Marshfield that I'll be able to visit the new spot from time to time.

Should be a new brewery in Hanover by February as well. The South Shore is blowing up

Finally made it over with my buddy last night. Brando was fantastic and I also did enjoy the mango frappe dipa. Dimensions was pretty good too. Some tasty beers being brewed over there. Hope that doesn't change now?

Well, it did seem to be a bit of a mismatch with @xerotime and his level of talent and the John Harvard location. Will be sad to see him go. I wonder if he'll leave some of the recipes for the next brewer though (Brando please!). Can't imagine JH ever being competition for his next stop.

I guess they had a water pipe burst over the weekend too. I hope to get some last doses of his brews before he departs once they fix the flooding issue.

I wondered, too. But then I remembered how the Contender (Nobscot) IPA tasted after he left Beer Works...I won't get my hopes up.
