Stumbled across this book on Amazon. I learned a lot about homebrewing from his book "How to Brew", so I might check this one out as well. It's bascially all about water, go figure, but could be kind of interesting.

It's been talked about on here before but not for a while. I pre-ordered it back in the fall and forgot about it. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, I dunno know about that. Last I knew John and company were still hard at work trying to put the book to bed. They've been working hard to make it complete yet approachable.

Vaporware. But yes, I also preordered a long time ago, and hope it does get published someday.

Martin Brungard says it is coming along nicely (on another forum). If it makes the April date that will be good. I will get from the AHA.

Malt is next. That one might be the hardest to write. Word on the street is that John Mallet is writing that one. He is the brewery production manager at Bells.

Any idea when "Malt" is coming out? They should offer them as a box set.

No idea on that book. Just heard a while back that John Mallet was going to write it.

Since we are all wondering when/if Water will be available, and Malt is next; The Magic 8 Ball says no fricken clue.

Hey guys, it sounds like this isn't out yet and my question possibly does not have an answer yet. Will this book be a good introduction to brewing? I'm looking for a book that hopefully runs the gambit, from basic intro to the complex.

Water is in every beer, but malt, yeast, and hops contribute the lion's share of flavor...I'd start there first(www.howtobrew.com) and then worry about the nuances of water later.

"Water" will probably not be a good intro to brewing. It will focus on one little piece, water chemistry. I would recommend "How To Brew" to get you started and then "Yeast" and "Hops" when you want something more specific and advanced. And "Water" when it eventually comes out.

Is "Yeast," "Hops" and "Water" all by John Palmer? I saw that How To Brew is available in PDF form on the internet, so I'll start reading that.

Yeast is by Chris White of White Labs with Jamil Z.
Hops was written by Stan Hieronymus.
Water is being written by Palmer and Colin Kaminski. I saw it might be out in September now.
Malt is to be written by John Mallet of Bell's Brewing.

How to Brew is a web book, just go to howtobrew.com

As others have said.. go pick up How To Brew (the print edition is better than the online edition.). Water is targeted at moderately experienced homebrewers and pro brewers.

About a month ago John said on his facebook that his Laptop's (the one he's using to write this book) harddrive went to shit. He was asking advice on how to repair/retrive info....

I'm too hip to the April Fool's jokes today. Going to have to try harder than that.
