What are people thinking about Joint Custody?

I can't get enough of it. I think it is a great collaboration, just hoppy enough.

This beer will take me through the end of the summer.

The reviews seem polarized. Between that and the seemingly low ibu:abv ratio, I've hesitated taking the plunge. Curious to hear more thoughts.

I was always annoyed at the fact that Citra Mantra wasn't released during summer months. This makes up for it.

I was underwhelmed for sure. Decent eniugh beer but with the stuff those two breweries are cranking out I expected more for sure. Maybe I just don't dig the hops they used. Not a huge huell Melon .

Do you not like Blue Moon White IPA then?

Had few cans on Saturday. Did not like. The Huell and Mandarina created a melon/berry profile that I wasn't crazy about. Certainly understand how some would dig it as a hoppy lager. No Pilsner though.

I liked it. It wasn't a typical craft pilsner. It worked because I also dig Jack's Abbey.

Is this widely available in MA stores now? I was told it should be this week - haven't looked yet though.

I thought it was different....had it at Otter Creek brewery, liked it enough to buy 2 sixers. I liked the slight melon profile.

Hops were too bitter for me, glad I just got a can...

I loved it. Pilsners are wildly underrated, and aren't supposed to be super noticeably (dare I say) "hoppy".

That being said, I think it's a well executed pilsner with a fun new hop. Wish there were more pilsners out there.

I'm with you birdman, it's a great beer. I like nothing better than a nice pilsner this time of year. Hopped up pilsners like Joint Custody are so refreshing.

As I wrote up in my review I got a strange medicinal taste on the first several sips, probably from the melon-y hops. But it was a little more clean tasting after I got used to it. Pretty good but I'll be ok with only this one sixer.

Found some at Marty's today. Enjoyable. Taste nothing like a pilsner to me. Taste more like JA's lagered IPAs if you get me. While I did get an odd note on the swallow at the beginning, like kevdemers said above, I didn't notice it anymore once I was halfway through it. Overall I liked it but I'll stop after this one 6 pack.

BTW - what did everyone pay for this? $13.99 at Marty's. Kinda unfortunate.

I paid 12-something at Bacon's in Hudson. I was a bit surprised; thought it'd be closer to 10.

Pouring into a glass alleviated the smokey and plasticky flavors I was getting when drinking from the can but this is still a strange one.

I think this beer is trying to jump three sharks at once, "let's make it an uber "dank", "collaboration" "lager", it'll sell like hotcakes." I'm glad someone else mentioned "smokey", when I first tried it I was re-reading the label to see what kind of beer it was, it's definitely no "pilsner", are there smoked malts involved? I guess not, it's just fail. IMO of course,..

Really like the base beer, and the hoppiness levels, but the smoky, phenolic notes make it a one and done for me. Mostly get the melon notes in the nose, which I like. Can't figure out if the smokiness is intended or not. Hoppy rauch pilsner?

    Disappointed overall.

I also paid $12 for a six-pack of this, glad to hear it's on par with what some other BAs have been dropping. Saving these for the weekend, but really looking forward to it. I like OCB a lot, and JA has been my favorite brewery a long time. I'm hoping Joint Custody is a hoppy "pilsner" in the same way that Hoponius Union is.
