I'm getting the phenolic smoke, can into glass. Didn't get it on the first 2 cans, or the growler from JA (no I didn't drink all that now, over 8 days)

no smoke in this one, pure tangerine

so weird I had this first at JA, then growler, then 2 cans all fine and a nice recommendable beer

    previous can smoke and cabbage

    now back to tangerine IPL

$11.99 at Martignettis. I passed since there were fresh (7/14) 12ers of SN Torpedo for a buck more. Also, many reviews mentioned something about smokiness? Anyone find that flavor profile?

Would be hilarious if it was some kind of inside joke between the two. Like "Hey, remember how those test beers tasted after we blazed last night? Let's shoot for that"

And blazed is an appropriate term right? I haven't smoked anything since I was 16.

Got some smoke in mine. Not hops I'm fond of either. Total miss here.

4 pack with tan can holder. Looks like the shop owner wanted to maximize the shipment. Not complaining. The price was a little expensive at $10. But wanted to try it. I enjoyed the beer a lot. No picking up any pilsner or lager characteristics. Just straight juicy IPA. At only 40ibu there's little to no lingering bitterness. Solid brew. Wish it were a year round offering.

Finally tried a can of this last night. OC and JA put out some great beers but this beer made me think of the Judge Smails quote from Caddyshack:

"Well, the world needs ditch diggers, too."

I got a weird bacon but not bacon flavor at first. it died down eventually turning into slightly citrus hops. glad i tried it but expected more from the two brewers. i wouldn't buy it again.

All melon and tangerine in mine, no smoke at all (and I was looking for it). Has anyone who's gotten smoke in theirs reached out to either brewery? This seems like a packaging issue to me.

No smoke, found a sharp almost metallic taste. Not bad, but just not falling in sync for me.

This one continues to confuse me. Some of my cans have been smokey and some haven't. Wish they'd reveal the malt bill or fill us in if there were production issues.

I had a smokey vibe...these new hops have some weird flavors IMHO...mint, soil, cilantro. Either way, I like this beer.

I had the same experience: first two cans had the smoke notes, next couple didn't. Weird. Even without the smoke, this really isn't what I would call "a winner."

I just got a 6 pack because I enjoyed the first 4 I had over weekend. Picked up the smoke taste this time. It was at the end and bitterness lingers. Its weird for sure. At only 40ibu i would not expect that much bitterness. Something is going on with this beer?

if you want a hoppy lager/pils go for fresh cut by peak organic. this beer was a let down for me, and @tasterschoice62 would agree. Smells pretty good and then the first drink reminds you of drinking liquid band-aids. I found that ruining my pallet with a rocking ipa before having this one, straight out of the can, makes for a much more enjoyable experience. Get a backseat Berner or a Mass Rising and really have yourself a good time.

I've had two of my six pack. One with food and one without and both are of the weird smoky variety people have been referring to. I will probably try to finish the six pack in the hopes one tastes better, but I am not optimistic at this point. I get almost no hop profile at all. The smoke overwhelms the rest of the beer.

A terrible collab...maybe the batch should have been dumped.
