Searched for this one and there were only a few hits for it, and those came from the cellaring forum. Does this have any type of worthy trade value commensurate with its age or has any value been lost to time, obscurity, and the release of 2010 Jubel? (It's a 12oz bottle if anyone cares.)
I snatched up a couple of these a few years back (can't say where, exactly, but definitely wasn't via trading) and both bottles were absolutely incredible (see WoosterBill's review for the bottle that we shared). Far better than where Jubel 2010 is at right now. I'd even go so far as to suggest that the 2000 vs. 2010 could easily be considered as two entirely different beers at this point. It's kind of a sleeper hit that not too many people likely have on their radar...so trade valuation might prove to be a little difficult to apply here. The Wants/Gots ratio is a little funny too.....kind of surprised that there's actually two Gots. And yet, only thirteen Wants? Crazy. Knowing what I know about this beer, I'd think that something of a similar vintage/pedigree would be a fair contender considering the amount of time that it's been hanging around.
Given knifestyles comments, I think you should save the bottle until HotD anniversary and open it when I'm around
Thanks. Your comments correspond to my initial thoughts on this. Gathering how few comments there are to this, it must be reaaaaaally under the radar.
I honestly didn't even realize this beer had been bottled until a couple of them showed up at tastings in the last few months. I think most people don't even know it exists.
Never tried 2000, but IMO, the 2010 is drinking very nicely, far better than the first year after its release
Perhaps there's a bit of bottle variation then....fairly extensive thread on the current state of Jubel 2010 right here: beeradvocate.com/community/threads/jubel-2010-going-down-hill-fast.80026 Again, I can't emphasize it enough: The 2000 is a vastly different beer than the 2010 despite the similarities of recipe/brewing process. Anyone interested in the 2000 should keep this in mind. The most recent review even suggests that it's still drinking quite wonderfully thirteen (!!!) years later.
