Julio's in Westboro MA has its own app. It seems like it could have a lot of potential. No more lost Wild Six cards. Maybe they even move Hold Cards on to this and you get an alert when your beer comes in. I definatley see a lot of potential for this. I know Founders and Victory have apps pretty cool for locating beer. I think apps would work great for smaller breweries too. Apps seem to be quicker and less intrusive than other forms of social media. Me personally, would prefer beer news and updates in this format.
Are the Founders and Victory apps really up-to-date? I have to check them out. I am amazed that, in this day & age, the best way to discover locations of various beers is still word-of-mouth (ie blogs like BA) As for administration, it just seems to me the type of this info is best provided by wholesalers, rather than the brewers...at least in theory. I give credit to brewers who attempt to tackle this via social media in a rudimentary way...ie Facebook or their website. But the listings are inevitably out-of-date because they simply don't have the time (or inclination?) to keep it up-to-date.
Hard to say if Founders App works well. I would say it does a good job to let you know who carries Founders. When you select a store it gives you the usual suspects. All Day, Centennial, and Porter. I have not use it to locate what's on tap in area bars. One cool function is year round lineup. Gives good stats, release months and if its bottle or draft only. Right know they have a pop up with Big Lucious, Dark Penance, and FBS so it updated recently
Just dropping a heads up that all single beers are 20% off through tomorrow (Saturday). I got an Avery Mephistopheles, Molotov Simcoe Single and a few Really Old Brown Dog bottles for under $20.
