I will have an afternoon of post race drinking in Madison on Sunday June 10th.I will be staying in the center of the city, probably good for 4-5 hours a dozen or so pints. i will be tired and not super mobile, i'd love to sit outside grazing snacks and tasty beers. what's the best way/place/places to spend that afternoon?
Plenty of other threads cover Madison options but if the weather is nice I'd recommend just going to the Memorial Union Terrace. Nothing remotely rare on tap but a decent size taplist with an awesome view and atmosphere.
is there a particular thread that handles yard drinking on a Sunday afternoon? cause i will devour it
I'm assuming you're in town for the 70.3. Regardless, if the weather is good and you're looking to stick close to the capitol, I'd recommend the following: Coopers - nice outdoor seating with a variety of beers and good food Lucille - better beer selection, food is hit or miss, but I have had some good appetizers there Hopcat - a little walk down State St but they have a ton on tap. Prices can be a bit high Barleypop - short uber/cab ride but they always have a great selection of beer Cask and Ale - top of State St and usually has a wide variety of beer Side Door - rarely busy and usually has a solid tap list. Also has homemade tater tots. Close to Hopcat
Y'know what I like most about this list of recommendations? No errant apostrophe-s at the end of any restaurant name, thumbs up emojis all around.
I hate it when people tell others not to post any further replies, but, given the specifics of the request, what @Dactrius posted is exactly what you should do. Everywhere else mentioned may be adequately pleasant, but a June afternoon drinking beer on Memorial Union Terrace is an experience that will not be beat in Madison or almost anywhere else. You can leave Madison saying, "That was nice," or you can leave saying "That was awesome!" Use this guest pass that will allow you to purchase beer.
You need to go to the Old Fashioned and have fried cheese curds with whatever Wisconsin beer you like. Trust me on this. It’s right on the Capital Square and we’ll worth your time.
It's too bad Tipsy isn't open on Sunday, because their curds are >>>> than Old Fashioned OF are enjoyable but tend to be very greasy.
