There are plenty of thermostats out there, just found this one on EBAY,shipping paid and all, with an insurance plan for additional $1.49,but total was just under $20.I plan on plugging my small freezer into it as the temp adjust from 41 to 120,question is what should I set ity at for most beer 45 degrees?
Actually both ,that way during the heat of the summer I can keep my fermententation at 60 or so for my Ales!
For serving, I would keep it at 40F or colder. For fermentation, it really depends on the yeast strain, the style you're brewing, and your goals. But if in doubt, for ales 67F is a pretty good default. For lagers, 50F is a pretty good place to start. Keep in mind those are wort temperatures, which will be a few degrees higher than your freezer's ambient temperature during the most active part of fermentation.
@ $20, I'd buy 2 and designate one for ferment and 1 for lagering/serving...if that is of quality construction anyway.
For another $15 I would bump up to this one, which a lot of home brewers use. You have 2 plugs, one for the hot side, one for the cold side and it comes with a temp probe. https://www.amazon.com/Inkbird-Itc-308-Temperature-Controller-Thermostat/dp/B01MDSWXY4
Also in looking, I think this is part of a larger set. Here is a link that details it out https://picclick.co.uk/HY02-TH-Digital-Plug-In-Thermostat-LCD-Display-Electric-262678564912.html Before purchasing something, find someone who has used it in the application you are looking at.
Yes, this device has to be plugged into the wall, and I think it is considered a remote piece, there may be more needed for this to even function, or it is simply to control an electric heater that doesn't contain a reliable thermostat
