Every time i go into my TW i swear that i am going to give the guys another chance to helpful. They are always willing to look things up in the computer but that's about where it ends.

Example: They were showing me the new bottles from Slumbrew that came in and the guys comment was that they seemed over priced b/c the ABV was too low.

Those are my "go to" spots around here (minus Goody Goody). I talked to a guy from Deep Ellum last night, and he said their beer is available at a place called Brewed, so I'm gonna check that out.. Deep Ellum is great btw. You should try their stuff if you ever run accross it. Definitely grab Dream Crusher if you see it

Yes, Claymont. They were the last two on the shelf, but not necessarily the last two they had. It may be worth checking out the Wilmington location as well. They usually get the same beers and they tend to stick around on the shelves a little longer. Good luck!

I have tried the Deep Ellum IPA. I somtimes have to go over to Las Colinas for work and stop by a place called Las Colinas Beverage that carries their stuff. I plan to try to stop by today if I get a chance....fingers crossed

Total Wine is solid; still think Binny's back in Chicago area is better.

Spokane recently got a TW and I have really enjoyed it. The employees are clueless as to bottle dates, release dates, and inventory, but if you know how to do all of the work yourself it is a great place. Luckily I know how to check bottle dates and I know which beers are ok to buy if they have been sitting a while. The less informed customer may get burned buying old IPA's however. I also have just started calling the distribution center myself and finding out when our market will be getting specific beers in and what stores will get them.

It's a little extra work, but the prices and selection make TW a great place for me.

The Norfolk location (only one I go to) is really good. The salespeople are huge beer fans and probably know much more than other locations. They're the ones who told me Great Lakes was coming. If they're holding a limited release beer for themselves and you ask about it, they give it to you (has happened a few times). A few of them talk just as passionately as we do. And chances are, they've tried something that you ask about. Plus, I got FW Sucaba and Black Note there yesterday. I'm sure other locations may not be as good, but 2 or 3 of the clerks at my location are great.

I go there when I have a hankerin' for something like Ruination($8.99 4 pack) or Storm King(no one else in the North carries it) and I pop in just to check stuff out. I like the grocery store I go to because if something cool is coming out I can mention it to the manager and he'll order it and put a couple aside for me and then he sells the rest. I bring him cool beers I get in trades as a thanks. He's a beer guy but he doesn't follow BA so he doesn't always know what cool stuff is coming out.
I figure if I didn't ask, they probably wouldn't have got it as their distributor is not a beer guy.

I must have been there after you because I grabbed the last two (unless they still had some in the back). Kreston's is decent, but there are a ton of shops in the area that all seem to carry the same stuff. Therefore, I go to the closest shops (Avenue Wine and Gilpin Liquors) for the everyday stuff. I like to make trips to State Line every once in a while to see what they've gotten in and to take advantage of the larger MD distribution. I was there earlier this week and didn't really find anything special. Oh well. They did have the newly released BA Gonzo in 750s, but the $17 price tag wasn't worth it to me. They also still had some BP Victory at Sea at last check. Rumor has it if you get in with the owner then you get access to the rare stuff he keeps in the back, but I don't go often enough to qualify. I have been meaning to get to one of the tastings though.

Snagged a couple bottles- couldn't believe it was just sitting on the shelf! The TW by Ikea had it hidden away w/ 1 bottle limit. And couldn't even find it at other TW around the city. So thanks again!

I went to the tw in Rancho cucamunga today. I asked a simple question "You got any whales bro?" He had no idea what I was talking about. I'm never going to total wine again!

I'll have to check Avenue Wine out some time--I've never been there but I pass it all the time. Inner Spirits has been improving their beer selection lately, as well, so I drop in there after getting food in Trolley Square.

Getting in with the owner sounds exhausting, especially since I'm hardly ever in Newark/Elkton. I went to the "Big Ones for Breast Cancer" tasting on Saturday. You should be warned that the tastings are pretty much, "here's your paper (listing/describing beers) and your glass... whaddya want?" It gets crowded and there aren't tables or chairs--there wouldn't be room for them. This doesn't bother me, but it would be difficult to really review your tasters.

I don't shop at TW I have better alternatives, but the only thing I wouldn't buy would be IPA's and such that weren't bottle dated. I think the odds of getting burnt on hoppy brews is probably higher than a quality beer store.

ah yes, because retail employees are not allowed to have opinions, of course

I went to 2 Total Wines in Florida including the one in Tampa. Nice selection but a pain in the ass to move around in with their very narrow aisles!

$4.99 for a 4 pack of founders breakfast stout is hard to resist.
