Been wanting to try this one, but honestly I don't know if I've ever seen it in a bottle shop anywhere. Does this get sold around US? What's the price check/bottle size etc. on them? I'm really clueless about this beer, except I know its an English Barleywine that ages well. Just wondering if I'll find it in a store somewhere if I'm more observant, or whether its just another whale like Subuca or Bourbon County Barleywine.

All over NC. I've got a local shop that has about 20 from 2012 sitting in the back. That reminds me that I need to pick one up today and drink it. delicious liquid.

A couple really good craft stores in Jersey have all the varients- they are pretty great too

I'm picking up the set again very soon- really enjoy them

Sold in 11.2 oz bottles. Pretty easy to find at good bottle shops in DC and Virgina. If you are close to NOVA message me and I'll give you some places to look.

Lees should be widely distributed. It's no whale. Avg. price in my market tends to be $6-7 for a standard bottle of Lees and $8-10 for the barrel aged variants. You may see them as recent as last year on the shelf or over a decade old. Lees isn't Thomas Hardy Ale, but it ages gracefully and is probably as close as one can get these days.

Cool. I'll definitely look around more for these. Maybe its been on shelves all along and I just haven't noticed. Might be the dust collecting on bottles in the UK section? :-)

When you do find them, don't let the price drive you away. Grab a couple of variants and enjoy. They really are great.

My shop in Ohio has them at $5.99 for as old as 08 and 09. The '12 barrel variants are a bit more pricey.

They are 275 ml bottles, so 9.3 oz.

What part of Maryland are you in? Based on the website, Stateline Liquors in Elkton has it in stock, in many vintages and all of the barrel-aged varients:

Connecticut Ave Liquors* near DuPont Circle Metro station (north entrance) has had J.W. Lees before, I haven't seen it anywhere else in the MDV area. It tends to sit around when it arrives due to the price and lack of t3h wal3z status.

The brewery routinely holds back large amounts of each batch to let out slowly over the years, as they realize almost nobody likes it fresh. Should be 8+ years in my opinion. Most of the shelf bottles out there are 3+ years already.

Once it's in the decade age range, expect lots of toffee, almonds, and a touch buckwheat honey (dark honey).

*that's what google maps tells me the name is, but I think it has a different name now.

Yes, Lees isn't like Thomas Hardy's Ale. It's made like its always been made, is still available without stupid markups and is a better beer. Thank God for that.

I live under an hour's drive away from the brewery but I have never seen this beer on sale. Other Lees beers, but not Harvest Ale.
